new oil specs

I hear that the oil for the MB sprinter has changed from what it was. Last time I changed the oil I used the Mobil 1 5W30M, but I under stand that they stopped making that oil. So what do they recommend to use now?

Mercedes has specified several different motor oil specifications for the Sprinter engines. I think there's (at least) 229.51 and 229.52, but there may be one or two more. There's a Mercedes web site which lists all of their motor oil specs and, for each one, links to a detailed list of approved oils:
Mercedes-Benz Specifications for Operating Fluids: Overview Sheets
In the case of 229.51, the MBS list includes the following Mobil 1 products:
Mobil 1 ESP 0W-30
Mobil 1 ESP 0W-40
Mobil 1 ESP Formula 5W-30
Mobil 1 ESP Formula B 0W-30
Mobil 1 ESP Formula M 5W-40
Mobil 1 ESP X1 0W-30
I'm not sure how common these various oils are...I think many folks have been using the first one - Mobil 1 ESP 0W-30.

Thanks Dave

I thought the Mobil 1 ESP 0W-30 was what people were switching too but wanted to check it out.

The new spec. is MB approved 229.52. Mobil 1 ESP x1 0W30 is one of the oils that meets the spec.

That's what I used last time I changed mine.
