Newbie question re furnace/AC

First time out in my 2013 Solera, to find out what I don't know. I'm in Oregon and it's still cold here. Trying to avoid a visit to the RV repair guys...

When I turn the thermostat on, push the button to get it to "furnace," turn the temp up to 65, the very loud AC blower comes on and cold air blows from the ceiling vents. Brrrr! Eventually, the heat comes on and blows nicely from the vents near the floor....but the cold air is still blowing loudly from the ceiling. It seems like the heater doesn't work separately from the AC. Is that possible? Is there something I should be doing that I'm not? I know this is likely a dumb question...but I have looked thru all the posts here and can't find anyone else addressing this. Ideas? Or do I need the repair guy??

The thermostat has three buttons...fan, cool and furnace. A button on the bottom says" on/off mode" and is the first thing I push...then "furnace" and the cold AC comes on first....and stays on, even after the heat comes on. Ideas?

Or at-least a link to the same one or brand name ?

Turn fan to off or auto and furnace or heat to on .

I have same Dometic thermostat Peyton sent a picture of in in the thread you sent a link for. I found the auto, and then went to furnace...and I now too am getting warm without the freezer blast from above! Many many thanks.

Does the furnace only function use propane when not hooked into shore power. I understand the A/C only runs on the generator or shore power but never thought about the heat side.

In general, furnace uses propane in all cases, and the blower and controls are 12 volt. Shore power is irrelevant.

I don't think if you have it on heat pump, it uses propane when its hooked up to shore power, but I could be wrong.

I had the same issue for two years in my first RV. I had to switch the AC circuit breaker off to avoid this. Then I just bought a new RV in January and the RV walk through guy said just put the switch on auto and I had one of those "ahhhhhhhh" moments.

Good point Debbie. If you have a heat-pump, no propane unless heat-pump can't keep up with the heat demand.

I found a manual, finally, online. I'll attach it here. It was not among the many manuals received when I picked up my new Solera.

A little clarification please. Solera does have a heat pump as well? If so, then what is the setting. Unfortunately, I couldn't open the manual link, working on that soon. Must be my Operating system.

My 2013 Solera does not have a heat pump, and my Dometic thermostat does not have a heat pump setting. I found the thermostat instruction manual with a Google search, which would be a good way to find it if the pdf I attached can't be opened. It's a very useful manual, whether or not you have a heat pump! It probably should have been included with all of the other manuals i received with my new unit...but, alas, it was not.

My 2012 does have a heat pump setting. Guess they are all different? I would have thought FR put they same unit in them all?

Now I wonder whether I have a heat pump but they ran out of the better thermostats and just stuck an old thermostat in mine....without the heat pump setting. Or maybe there is no heat pump on mine but there is on yours. It's hard to say. I know the tail pipe on my brand new rig looks older...like maybe it had been sitting around awhile. But now I have to look into whether I should have a heat pump and don't, or do, and have no thermostat control for it. This is getting pretty funny!
