Plus the engine with the SCR got other improvements as well. Bumped it from roughly 155 Horsepower to 188 and increased torque.

That's a 20% increase in HP. Not a bad trade-off, I'd say.

"The common-rail, direct-injected, four-cylinder diesel with a two-stage turbocharger slides into the base-model spot with 161 hp and 265 lb-ft. In US trim, that twist comes on as low as 1,400 rpm. That's 7 horsepower and 22 pound-feet more than the inline five-cylinder that was the sole engine choice for most of the Sprinter's time here (before the 3.0-liter six arrived) a powerplant buyers liked enough to give the Sprinter a toehold in our market."

What's the plan at FR now that the standard engine in 2014 will be a 161 hp four banger?

For those needing more power, a BlueTEC 3.0-liter V-6 diesel engine rated at 188 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque is available.

Our plan is "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"

I have a 2012 and it has plenty of power. It is not like my corvette .... but that's ok - I don't drive it like I drive my corvette! Actually, my poor corvette doesn't get driven like a corvette should be either As I just use it to go back and forth to work 8 miles during the week and to the grocery store. What a waste ......

Funny that you mention you have a corvette. We sold my wifes 2003 coupe with only 16k miles on it to buy our new 2013 Solera. I'm glad the Solera has the emblem on the front of it as she just thinks we traded from a corvette to a mercedes so shes good with it

Our 2012 Ram with the Cummins 6.7L engine doesn't take DEF or use glow plugs - just two more reasons to love it.

OK bclemens now I'm confused. The 2013 Solera has the 188 hp engine. Does the 2014 have 188 hp or is that an option that must be ordered? We have a 2014 on order and our salesman never mentioned anything different.
