Parts lists for the Sprinter 3500

I am not sure if anyone else feels this way but, I think the owners manual for the Sprinter is one of the hardest to use I have ever seen. (for people who like to do the simple maintenance stuff IE: oil change). I could not find any part numbers for oil filters or any of the other filters in the users manual. Anyone have information on what to use. I am going on a 4500 mile trip and want to change the oil before I leave even though I only have less then 6000 miles on it has been over a year since I got it.

Thanks

For our 2012, Amazon has many common parts available - with part #s:

e.g., oil filter: Amazon.com: K&N PS-7028 Oil Filter: Automotive

oil: http://www.amazon.com/Mobil-121218-0...productDetails

Cabin Ar Filter: http://www.amazon.com/FRAM-PA10436-H...gy_auto_text_z

Note: they also have the fuel filter (scheduled every 20K miles) - but replacing it properly involves remove/replace the air hose feeding the turbo. A local shop that said they were qualified improperly replaced mine, they (I believe) improperly just moved the hose out of the way and back, resulting in a turbo failure. Mercedes has a service notice out to dealers on this issue - says to replace the "compensator ring" between the air hose and the turbo any time the hose is disturbed. If you decide to do the fuel filter, be aware - and wary!

FYI - Jim

Mountaintripper, Advance auto parts carries the filter. Take your vin number in; they might need it, but probably not. Purelator packages the filter and if you open the box you see a filter made in Germany.

That is where I get mine and they also have the copper crush gasket for the pan plug.

If you use the vacuum method to get your oil out make sure you get the oil nice and warm.

Good info, Do you use the 0-30 or 0-40. Found the 0-30 ESP Mobile 1 @ Napa for $5.99 a Quart. I think that sometimes the lower weight oil can squeeze a little more MPG.

Just changed my oil a little over a week ago. I had enough Mobil 1 5w40 ESP M for the change. I will be switching to Mobil 1 0W30 X1 ESP with spec 229.52 next change.

I would make sure The Mobil 1 you get from Napa has the proper spec. That is a good price.

I the 0W30 does not increase oil consumption I am all for it.

I have been trying to find one of those for a 2013.

I imagine they are fairly close.
