Persnickity 24S coach steps!

To all owners of a 2011 24S, on up...

Guess I haven't learned it all yet (and probably never will!). I enjoy
watching my steps automatically slide out whenever I open the coach door
to enter...they always seem to be there for me, so far.
They loyally do this no matter if off the grid, or plugged-in, which is OK by me. However...

I do not remember reading in the manual how to retract them on demand?
"Once" in a while they will retract when I close the coach door, but
mostly not. Is there a certain combination needed between having\not having
the unit plugged in, or not, and\or using the battery disconnect switch either
on\off, or any combination thereof? Haven't figured out what it is yet.

They only consistent way I can retract the steps(which I prefer during
inclement weather, or when walking past them...ouch) is by starting the
engine which automatically does the trick. I've even tried various combo's
of the two light-switches to the right of the batt. disconnect to no avail.
I'm talking about the switched "porch" light outside and\or the courtesy
light underneath the steps.

Hopefully someone can steer me in the right direction here and I hope
it's just a little on-demand switch that I've missed entirely for the steps?

The 3rd switch IN of the bank of switches by the step controls the steps. If the switch is lighted (in the on position) the steps will retract each time the screen door is closed. Un-lighted (off) the steps will stay out until the engine is started. Battery switch on or off does not matter.

Does that answer your question or did I misunderstand what you are asking?

Our 2012 "S" works like Mikegjax said, except I believe the switch only works when the Battery switch is on. When off, the steps go out with the screen door opening and only retract when the engine is started. I added another switch which disconnects the screen door switch so I can keep the steps from extending when, for instance, parked next to a curb.

Yes, I stand corrected. Battery on for switch to work. Ignition on steps retract independent of battery switch.
