Poor radio reception with Jensen VX7020A

We are about 45 miles from FM stations and have no problem getting great reception 25+ stations in our cars and house. On auto scan the Jensen picks up 2 stations and I have put 2 more in manually and at times they fade out.
On a forum people talked about interference from the camera system but I have it turned off.
With the antenna on top of the RV you would think reception would be great.
Is this typical for the unit?
Any thoughts?

On a previous trailer I found they had not connected the ground wire on the antenna.
They had several feet extra of antenna wire just coiled up in the space behind my radio.
I cut out the extra antenna wire and grounded the shield side of the antenna wire and improved my reception notably. It never was as good as my truck but it got a lot better. I suspect you have something similar going on. At the very least you have a poor antenna connection somewhere.

The Magnadyne radio on my 2014 R had the same issue. I was told it was getting interference from the back up monitor even if the monitor was off. The monitor was replaced by dealer and reception is now great.

I doubt it is interference from anything. First suspicion would be the antenna. How is the AM reception compared to your other radios? If it suffers also, it is clearly the antenna and/or cable/connections. The AM and FM RF circuitry of the radio are totally separate. The antenna and audio sections are the only thing they share. If your AM is good I suspect the radio itself or MAYBE the back-up monitor as a remote possibility.

Interference from the monitor is a known issue. It affects both AM and FM reception. Before chasing wild geese, pull the fuse on the monitor system and check reception.

Check settings. You may have to turn up the volume on the voice prompts

This is for the VM9726BT that is in my 2015. I am thinking it is in your 2016.

See page 120 of the Nav System Manual.

Good Luck!

Thought I should check my navigation and it also does not work. There is a lot of negative info on line about Jensen units. Don't know if there is an acceptable replacement. Still on warranty so will the dealer take care of it or will I have to deal with Jensen?
