I experienced some serious problems with big diesel generators when we tried to go green and run bio-diesel. The bio-diesel caused all the garbage in the fuel tanks and lines to come loose and clog the fuel filters. It took about two filter changes and the system worked after that. I would never run large qualities of Bio again.

There has been extensive discussion of this issue in other threads in the forum. Just search the forum for "biodiesel."

In some states and in some seasons, B5 biodiesel is not available and you have to do the best you can. In other threads are links to sites for some fuel chains that list their biodiesel blends.

I wish B5 to B20 were available where I live It really does a great job keeping the fuel system clean. It also does a great job in increasing fuel lubricity which is lacking in regular diesel fuel.

Its good stuff!

MB says more than B5 voids your warranty. Not really good stuff. It can destroy your engine. Google MB Bio Brosure

From GMC manual:

DURAMAX® B20 Biodiesel Capability

To reduce carbon dioxide emissions and stretch your fuel budget further—without sacrificing vehicle performance—the DURAMAX 6.6L engine is engineered to operate on B20 biodiesel fuel, a mixture of 80% petroleum diesel and 20% biodiesel produced from domestic, renewable resources.

BandJCarm, this is a Mercedes Benz sub-forum. Nice to know what GMC will handle, but that manual does not apply to these vehicles. ☺
