Quality of diesel fuel

Wanted to get some information about the best diesel for the Mercedes, are there different grades? I have never owned a diesel and want to use the highest quality fuel. Thanks

There are not really different grades ( like gas), but there are varying amounts of Biodiesel and sulfur. Check your owners manual an follow it.

What is available at pumps today is what you put in your car, and what is approved for use in all diesel vehicles. You'd have to read further to find out if you can use biodiesel in your vehicle. Diesel vehicles these days have multiple fuel filters and a water separator, meaning your vehicle does most of the work in making sure the cleanest fuel makes it to the injectors.

Diesel was standardized in the US as follows; Highway Diesel Program -- a 15 parts per million (ppm) sulfur specification, known as ultra-low sulfur diesel (ULSD), was phased in for highway diesel fuel from 2006-2010. All diesel now meets that standard. There are separate threads that deal with the state governments and their bio blends.

I only use diesel from stations that push a lot. So we stay away from stations that big rigs do not frequent.

You would think that industry and government would work together. How about government stays out of our business for a change. Otherwise the economic loss to consumers will only increase, and only one side of that equation really cares. Leave us alone.
