Remote camping extended stay idea

Just an idea.....
To extend potable water use while camping in remote areas how about drafting from a portable water jug using the winterizeing hose.

You could just turn the water valve to winterize and draft from maybe a 5 gal water jug or other portable source.

If you had a tow vehicle you could haul water from sources that you wouldn't / couldn't drive your Solera to.

Has anybody tried this? Any drawbacks?

With this simple mod:

Solera Fresh Tank Fill Modification

You can completely fill your fresh water tank from any size portable source.

Thanks Nats
Not sure where I would make these connections on a 24R but I will snoop around and see if I can find the lines.
Great idea!

Looking at your schematic again wouldn't you also need a closed valve on the cold water line just after the new fill junction to insure the water your pumping goes to the tank?

Have you tried just pumping water as needed from an external tank using the glycol hose seniero?

No, the third port in the 3-way winterize valve (normal port) is blocked when the valve is switched to winterize. It has to flow into the tank as long as all of the remaining point of use valves in the Solera are closed.

I've tried it, it works.
