Remove sofa table base?

I have the sofa / table option in my Solera ... love the sofa ... hate the table.

I picked up a small folding table which stores between the sofa and the wall when the slide is in and unfolds for use when it's out. This table seems to work well, but the big metal base of the original table makes it difficult to position.

So I've been thinking about taking that base out. Has anyone done that? Was it difficult to remove? What did you put into the hole that's left behind? Could I get a few additional floor tiles to cover the change?

Thanks for any insights!

Dave

It should just screw out. Could probably put a plug there of some sort...plywood, etc. Those are also not tiles, but linoleum. So you would need a spare piece and then try and then vinyl weld it all back to together. You'd almost be better with a little area rug there instead. Save the table base for when you sell it.
