RV Cover for 24R
What make cover works best for the 24R? Our 24R has the full body paint and looks like new now but the California summer sun will change that I am sure. I want to get a good RV cover and am looking for suggestions as to what works and what does not. An online quote for a "custom" made to fit cover was $750 - OUCH.

Although I don't have a motor home, check out the ADCO covers from Camping World. I purchased the one for my Cherokee 274DBH and used it a few times. Problem with covers or at least this one is you can't run the air or the refrigerator with the cover on. Oh and those RV covers are a pain to put on, take off and require you to get on the roof to roll them out on the install.
What I'm preparing to do instead is make a custom cover out of 1 5/8 chain link top rail. I went here:
Canopy Fittings and Portable Shelter Connectors and ordered the fittings and tarp to make a cover to fit over my camper. I am planning to go to a local fencing company and have them cut the center sections and legs at 10' each. Since they come in 24' sections, I'll use 8 of the leftover 4' pieces cemented in the ground with the tapered end up for the legs to attach to. I used an online pitch/run calculator to get my measurements right so in the end I'll have a nice cover that even covers the slide when its out. You can add pretty much whatever type of screen or tarp material to the sides for more coverage as you have funds available. Since you don't have hurricanes in your part of the country, this should work well for you and that company is in southern California so you might be able to drive there and get it cheaper without paying shipping. It will cost me around $800 total but cheaper than a portable cover at $2500.

I need an actual cover as the RV has to be stored off my property at a commercial storage lot.

Ah. Check out the ADCO covers then. You should be able to get one for around $400.

My 24R is stored indoors luckily but when I had my TT outdoors, I got an ADCO from Amazon.
The trick is to get a couple of extension poles to elevate the cover over the RV when covering and removing. An extra person is a bonus but I was able to handle solo, as well.
I picked up a couple of them from Home Depot, in the squeegie section.

I just ordered an ADCO Cover #34813. Hopefully I like it. I have heard they are a real pain to install especially since there is no roof ladder on the 24R. I am sure once you do it a couple times you get the process down.

I hope so. It is a general fit for class C 23' to 26' in length. Got it on eBay for $320 including shipping and no sales tax.

Don't know where in CA you are but the summer sun in NM eats up those covers in 2 seasons. And we had the model that was supposedly built for the sun. We gave up and just spend more time waxing. Also I haven't seen a cover yet that doesn't leave some kind of rub mark on your rig. Hopefully you will have better luck!

I have a brand new Adco cover I bought for my Solera 24S that I'm selling. It has never been used before. It is still wrapped in the original pkastic. The contractor who was working at my house tore up the box it was shipped in so I was unable to return it to Camping World. I live in California too. I use my Solera all the time, so never bothered to cover it. I'm also a single female and have no one to help me get the cover on.

We purchased an ADCO 52843 cover for our 2401R Forester MBZ on e Bay from Trends Auto. The cost was $275. Our unit is grey toned and so is this cover so it is a nice match. I put the cover on and off by myself and use a padded ladder against the rear of the side awning. Just have to watch were I step. Comes in a large bag that is easily carried to the roof. I added a protective patch on the side slide-out awning roller and the rear view camera. It has held up well for a year. We have had some strong winds and no tears. I wish there was a zipper on the side slide-out or front area. All covered entry has to be made on the passenger side.

Too bad you did not post this before I ordered. Depending on what part of CA you are in I could have swung by to purchase. Shipping is expensive on those things.

Good question. I assumed I would store with the slides in and in my case only have room for the side slide to be in during storage. I do not think the cover will work with the slides out on the cover I am getting.

John, No, I do not leave any of the slides out. There is some extra length in the cover and the rear slide may work but I haven't tried it. Mike
