"satellite ready"

In case you are interested in having SiriusXM radio through your Magnadyne radio in the Solera, you need to know that "satellite ready" means you can buy a Sirius tuner and antenna and plug the tuner in to the back of your radio and also install the antenna and connect it to the tuner and then you can purchase a monthly subscription from Sirius to have SiriusXM radio working in your Solera.

Be advised that a satellite radio antenna needs to be on the roof of the vehicle in order to have constant access to the Sirius satellite which is usually in the southern part of the sky. If you put the magnetic antenna on the steel of the cab, access to the satellite will be blocked by the higher part of the RV body. For example, if you put it on the front of the hood over the grille, you will lose the signal when you are traveling north.

I finally glued the antenna to our roof just ahead of the FM antenna and ran the wire down the outside and through the passenger door to get it into the cab and connect it to the tuner behind the radio. Some day I may run the wire through the roof and get it to the radio internally but for now, the radio is working the way it should driving in any direction unless there are briefly overhanging dense trees or a steep hill toward the south.

If you have never used satellite radio for long distance traveling, you might want to try it. Channels are available for almost any listening preference and the don't fade in and out as you are traveling.

For negligible cost, Forest River could have installed the satellite antenna when the FM antenna was installed and made the whole process much easier for the owner. For only about $50, they could have made the installed tuner and antenna standard equipment and made the units "satellite ready" as in get a subscription and listen immediately.
