Sewer connection and hose storage

Has anyone else but me wondered what the Solera designers were thinking when they put the sewer connection in a small compartment? You have to get down on your hands and knees to hook up the hose. And, any drips foul the inside of the compartment.

On previous RVs, I used a clear elbow at the hose connection point so I could see when the black water tank was clear of TP, etc. I can just barely get one on the connection, but it makes it tough to remove and replace the threaded cover plate in the floor. Any ideas here?

Also, there's no room in the tiny sewer hose storage compartment for more than the shortest hose available. Where do others store their sewer hoses? Looks like the Solera would have been a great candidate for one of the old-style square-tube rear bumpers that you could store a sewer hose in. Has anyone tried putting something on the rear bumper for hose storage?

Just trying to get the new 2013 Solera 24RS ready for a maiden voyage.

I use a clear connection on the other end of the hose. Works well. I store my hoses in a different compartment as well.

Jim: Install the elbow, then screw the cover plate up from the bottom! At least, that's what I did!

Also, I bought a 15' Rhino hose; comes with end fittings, but I had to trim a foot or so off for it to fit into the compartment. Rhino hose compresses tighter than the standard spiral wound hose. Fit it into the compartment and then you can figure out how much you need to cut off! I store an extension in a separate compartment.
