Shower door guide

Hello everyone !

The railing guides at the bottom of my shower door are all broken but one.
It is a small plastic part U shape, one end goes into the bottom rail so the door won't swing.

Any idea if it is repairable ?

Pierre

This is what I gleened from my '12, 24S unit. Mine is a two piece door that rolls in a track. Sticker on mine said "casade series". Not sure if yours is the same.

I suggest you ask B Clemens, if he can source the manufacturer for you (us), to see if replacement parts can be purchased. Let us know how you make out.

Hi Ped,

I have the same year and model and we seem to have all the same problems.

Interested to see what comes of this thread.

Pedrodasdas - I believe the shower door in our 2012 is the same as yours - at least looks the same as your pictures. I had two problems with ours - the latch did not keep the door shut while traveling (day one problem) and the plastic piece on the bottom (aluminum) track which is held on by one screw did not consistently keep the wheels on the bottom of the door in the track.
To fix the first problem I added a piece of 1/4 inch plastic drip hose to the door where the latch connected - used GOOP glue - has worked perfectly since (two years, 35K + miles). Picture attached.
For the issue with the plastic bottom track filler piece, I made a replacement using a piece of thin aluminum from a furnace duct. I bent a sharp lip, then shaped it to fit the bottom aluminum track. Attached it with the single screw from the original plastic part. Reinforced attachment and covered potential sharp edges with GOOP. Has worked well for two trips / 20+ nights.
The plastic (nylon, I think) rollers look identical to sliding door screen parts. If these are what has failed, I would check Home Depot, Ace Hardware or Lowes in their screening repair department. If you can find a similar diameter and wheel width, suspect you can make it work.

Good Luck -

Jim

Oops, correction three panel as well. I'm guessing BClemens can get you the contact information for possible replacement parts. My "fix" on the door movement in travel, is I cut a wood dowel slightly longer than the door width at the closed position and just use it as a wedge between the fixed glass panel and the edge of the shower door(handle end).

Did you see Brians information, how did you make out. Do they sell replacement parts?

Yes, I saw the info. Thank you Mr Clemens.

I'm presently back home in the snow and Forest (my RV) is still under Floridian sun !

I'm thinking more and more to replace with Home Hardare or Home Depot roller if I find them.

Merry Christmas all.

Pedrodasdas - Here are a couple of examples of the repair parts I believe you can find at Home Depot, Ace Hardware, Loewes or the like that might work:

http://www.amazon.com/Prime-Line-Pro...=1418962029322

Good Luck -

Thank you all for the efforts. I sent an email to SEA, waiting for an answer.
My main problem is that I don not have rollers but just plastic guides !

Interesting. Our 2012 "S" has rollers (wheels) both top and bottom.
Regards,

This was a "fix" for the latch issue I found (use) on here, from a previous post. Cut a 1/4" wood dowel to 19 3/8" and wedge between the end of the fixed glass shower panel and the aluminum trim, at the handle end of the shower door. I position it at the bottom portion of the door and it works perfect. Add it to the list of things to do before flight.

Received the info from Irvine, will ship them free to me, wow ! She said to remove the panels, lay them flat and use a rubber hammer to put in place.

Then its not the roller wheels that failed. I'm guessing they changed the shower door (mfg.) sometime during the model year. So what failed specifically.

I never said roller wheels. The forum tried to help with a roller solution but from the start of this thread, I'm talking about guides. Plastic guide on the bottom of the panels that keep the panels from moving in and out of the shower.

No roller at all in the bottom part, just guides.

Update for everyone,

Finally took the shower door out to change the bottom guides. Quite easy, just had to remove the bottom piece of each of the three doors, knock the broken piece out and replace with the new one.
Only tricky part is that the screws may break on you so make sure you have spare screws before you begin.
