Sirius/XM Antenna Intermittant

On our last trip with our 2016 Solera 24W, the Sirius/XM antenna connection was intermittent. It would work fine, we would hit a bump, the station would cut off and the display would say to check the antenna. We hit another bump and it would come back on. This occurred during the entire trip. This morning, I pulled the radio out to see if I could find the antenna wire and connection to ensure that it was secure. There are a lot of wires back there. Some are labeled and some are not. I could not find one labeled Sirius/XM antenna. Nor could I see anything that looked like an antenna connection for the Sirius/XM. I found the GPS connection and the AM/FM connection, but could not spot the Sirius/XM connection. I checked every connection that I could find to ensure that they were secure and all seemed OK. I put it back together and it is working fine. We'll see what happens the next time out. Meanwhile, does anybody know how to find the Sirius/XM antenna connection on this Jensen unit?

The tuner is located on the passenger above your feet on our '16 24R.

I down loaded the attached .pdf from Jensen's website. It shows the wiring on the back of the radio on Page 4.

The antenna off the roof goes to the Sirius/XM tuner then the tuner plugs into the back of the radio.

Also climb up on the roof or a step ladder at the house entrance door and see how much of the antenna is covered with self leveling sealant. Ours was almost covered. It's in the sealant that goes to the TV antenna power. Ideally it should be attached to metal which would create a larger antenna but the roof is fiberglass

Found Tuner and Antenna Wire

Thanks for all of the helpful feedback. I have located the Sirius/XM tuner. The antenna lead going into it looks fine and the connection was solid. I hope I don't have a broken wire somewhere. I removed and reseated the antenna connector so we'll see how it does on the next outing. At least I now know where everything is and diagnosing and fixing it should not be too difficult. This Forum has been an invaluable source of information for me.

Could also be a loose power wire to the XM system. Later RJD

My wife and I just purchased a 2016 Forrester 2401w. We are suppose to have 3 months of free SiriusXM and it keeps saying check signal. I have no idea where or what the antenna looks like. We are both new to the RV world, any help would be appreciated. Thanks

The antenna should be located on the roof. It is usually black and square looking not big at all. I'm surprised they are still being offered in Rvs as my frist new tt had it but now my new one does not. Later RJD

The operative word is "should" be located on the roof. On our Georgetown the antenna was behind the dashboard. The dealer relocated the antenna to the lower right corner of the windshield and when that did not work relocated it to the upper right corner of the windshield. That enabled the radio to work properly, but only in certain directions of travel. I told the dealer to install the antenna on the roof where it belongs. That cured the problems.

I've been having the same issues. The sealant is applied in a very messy manner up there. About 20% of my XM antenna was covered. I removed the excess, and am now waiting to see if the problem is resolved. Having put 3k miles on my 2016 MBS I am finding out there were a lot of shortcuts taken in design and assembly. Very little quality control, which is sad.

Today makes 2 weeks of owning our 2401W MBS....too many problems to even mention

I hope this fixed your problem.....when we located our XM tuner the little sticky tape the FR used to 'secure' it had come loose and it was simply hanging in space. Given all of the other poor electrical items we have experienced...we would assume this to be no different.

Our radio:

1. Sub-woofer goes on and off....without intervention.....tried adjusting it numerous times and numerous ways

2. When sub-woofer is on, it sound 'tinny' and is over-bearing....without regards how it is tuned....

3. Speakers on the passenger side of the coach do not work.

An entire list of problems with the GPS....for another time.
