Something is growing under my floor !

Hi All,

Presently in Indiana, on my way home to Quebec from Texas.

Yesterday we found a little bump in the floor. In short, there is something trying to sneak out through the linoleum and, before it tears it, I,m trying to find out what it can be.

It looks like a bolt head but I can not see anything undercarriage. I tough it was related to the slide out bars but, no, the bump is more to the rear.

Today, it is sticking out a little bit more.

You can see on the picture where it is, 19 inches from the drawer and 20 inches from the step.

Any idea ? My only option is to cut the lino before it tears.

Just a hunch. Check to see if the protrusion is in line with the slide supports, or frame, possibly the corresponding nut has become loose on the underside. Just guessing.

Is it hard or soft? My linoleum developed a bubble but it turned out to be a result of what they call a floating floor. The bubble comes and goes.

The bump is about the size of a big round bubble gum, very hard.

No, it is not in line with the slide out supports.

No, it is not moving when I press on it like it would if it was a loose bolt.

Twillight zone !

First of all, Welcome to Indiana! You're in the home state of some great RV manufacturers/sales/service companies. If you can't get it fixed here, you won't be able to get it fixed anywhere!

Ask B Clemens if he can shoot you a picture (in production) of the S model, in the same orientation you posted, before the lino is installed. That might help. Sure sounds like a nut loosened allowing the bolt head to work its way up. Sure would hate to cut the lino if its just a simple draw down of a bolt.

Thank you Still Kickin but I already know it is a bolt head for sure. My problem is to locate the nut under to rescrew it.

Oups, you are right, I forgot the follow-up.

The bump was a screw holding the plywood floor to the frame. Looks like a big huge metal screw with a Phillips head.

The only way to get it was to cut the linoleum, screw it back in place and place a bit of glue so it will not unscrew again, then reglue carefully the vinyl floor in place.

I have no idea how and why that screw unscrewed !
