TV power

My tv just went out, checked the fuse box and everything looks ok. The plug red light is out so either the plug is bad or the socket is bad. Anyone have a solution? Thanks.

What "plug red light"? Are you talking about the red LED for the antenna signal amplifier"?

Or are you plugged into a ground fault plug with a reset button and light on it? Check all plugs for any that have a reset button. Usually near kitchen and in bathroom. They often control other plugs.

Did you try re-seating power the plug. Mine has come loose more than once?

You might find a replacement 12V plug at Bestbuy or Radio Shack. I would try that first.

I'm confused are you running the TV on 12V or 110V ? If 12V did you pull the fuses out to check it ??? . If on 110V trip the breaker on /off to make sure they are reset. Also as has been mentioned be sure to reset the 110V GFCI outlet buttons. In the bath and kitchen. Plug something else into the outlet does it work?? I doubt that the outlet or the plug are bad.

I checked the fuse didn't see a breaker for the tv but checked all of the breakers seemed fine. Plug the power cord into the car and the red .light didn't come on so I think it maybe the power plug.

The chances of your 12v power plug failing are slim. Your problem most likely is a fuse. First, check to see if there is a fuse inside the plug itself. Most screw apart revealing a fuse if so designed. If it doesn't contain a fuse, then the EE's fused or circuit protectected that circuit from the 12v circuit panel. Look there.

If all appears to be in order, test that 12v socket for continuity.

Looks like the problem is the inline fuse in the plug. Will replace. Thanks for all the input and help.

A quick and easy test of any 12VDC power point is to plug in your cell phone charger. If it works the power point is good....

My 12VDC Jensen 32" LED plug overheated and died on a camping trip.

Replaced with a better quality 12VDC plug and cable that I had for another device.

No more issue.

The one that comes with the Jensen is not the greatest...

Good advice, I agree.

The power plug over heated and blew the inline fuse. Tried to get a replacement at Radio Shack but now would fit. Resorted to ordering one from Jensen. Plug was $10 shipping $12. Oh well should receive it in a week

When you get the new plug, I assume they will send both sides, male and female. Be sure to change both out, noting if you see any wire burn etc. It's odd that one of those fail, but you want to swap out both sides to eliminate any problem in the socket. Just sayin'

My Jensen plug overheated but did not blow the inline fuse.

It deformed the plug so much that it no longer has continuity to the socket.

Keep an eye on your new one and check it for heat after an hour or two of TV use, just in case.

Most 12 v plugs have fuses in the end of them.
