What's this?

I found this antenna in the passenger seat cubby. Radio, Sirius work fine. Is this just extra? It has the MB logo on it. 2014 Solera 24S.

I wonder if it's the antenna from the MB chassis that was taken off when they build the coach and someone thought you might want it?

That is what it is. They forgot to remove it.

I had one also in the glovebox when I picked up my Solera 2401R.

Not sure why they keep shipping them....other than we have no use.

That is on the cab portion that gets cut out. We install our own antenna on the roof.

I wish they'd route the Sirius XM antenna to the roof. Mine appears to be on the dash by the windshield. I hope that doesn't cause reception problems.

We do. The antenna you see on the dash is the GPS antenna. The XM module is routed to the roof.

That's good because I can't live without XM on long trips!

The Sirius satellites are normally fairly low in the southern sky so if you are passing by a mountain on the north side, you might lose the signal until your antenna gets a clear view of that portion of the sky again. Dense foliage can sometimes have the same effect.

If you have an older self-installed magnetized antenna and you put it on the steel hood, you are likely to lose the signal when driving north because the signal will be blocked by the tall coach body. Kudos to FR for making the roof mounted antenna and the tuner standard equipment.

So, is there a factory installed XM antenna on the roof of my 2013 Solera 24R?

TIA,

Greg

If you have the Jenses stereo yes. If you have the Magnadyne, then no.

Being a 2013, I'm 99% sure its the Magnadyne.

My 2014 24S has the Jensen radio and Sirius XM (love Sirius for road trips!). Lucky pick!

I also have one in my glove box on my Prism 24J. What is interesting is the cockpit radio SUX big time. Almost like there is no antenna and has been like this from Day 1. I do get radio stations when I am close to the transmitters. Thoughts? The coach radio works perfectly and has its own antenna on the roof (I think it is for the coach radio)
