What else are you running at the same time. You maybe exceeding the amp rating of the generator. If that's a 3600 watt generator, it should generate 30A at 120V. Very easy to trip the 30A main breaker running the A/C along with other devices in the camper.

Did you run the gen frequently while having the RV sit?

It might be starving for gas and not produce enough power....

Hook up the RV even with 20amp the ac will work....

I'd try it at a site with hookups. I'm more likely inclined to believe the generator might be at fault as opposed to the A/C.

This is a big clue, IMO. Your batteries may be very low or dead. When the generator drops off line it is taking the 12 volts with it.

Your converter is most likely drawing a ton of power from the generator trying to charge dead or low batteries and can not handle your AC at the same time.

Remove your house batteries and charge them using a good 4 stage (with desulphation stage) charger till they are chock full. Then try again.

As you can tell, I am not a motorhome guy. What does the "green wire" do?

It's still a trailer...just with the towing vehicle attached. You seem to be pretty spot on with that part of it.
