Which shocks for the rear 2015 24R?

Installed the Hellwig stabilizer bar on the 2015 24R from advice from this forum. Made a BIG difference. Reduced the "butt clenching truck suck" sway from the 18 wheelers blowing by me at 80 mph. Should be a standard upgrade on Sprinters! Decided I want to improve even more by either adding sumo springs or the Bilstien shocks. Doing internet research there seems to be confusion which shocks go on the back. Anybody installed any and which model number is it? Do the Sumo shocks transfer more road noise from riding on the axle to frame? Are they a harsher ride?

I just installed the bigger sumo springs on my 24r. These are the ones that connect to both the frame and the axle. I haven't had a chance to drive it yet, but the tech called to say the rear sits a little higher. I'm done with the sway. Installed helwig as well. $750 well spent if it does what I think it'll do. Unfortunately I won't be driving the rig till mid January when we head for Florida and the southern Gulf coast.

BD, did you install only on the rear? Let us know what you think when you take it out. Thanks

Yes. When I spoke to the Suspension Connection folks, they suggested the heavier duty *ssr-336-5 sumo spring for 2010-2015 Mercedes Sprinter*in the rear only. Along with the helwig sway bar, he felt that would resolve the majority of the issue. If things persisted, I could add the front units, but he was pretty confident that wouldn't be necessary. They even refunded the coupon savings that if forgot to include with the order. Great folks and super service.

I'm still on the fence about Sumo's so I'm also looking forward to your update on how well these work. Our "W" had the Hellwig sway bar factory installed and the sway on the highway isn't too bad. From everything I've read here and on other forums adding Sumo's really improves the ride and handling of a MBS.

Now that we are having this conversation (again) when I called they wanted to know if my 2401W had a "block on the axle". I of course have no clue. They said it depended on which one they sent me. Sumo Springs. And the numbers I was given are not SSR 336 5 but rather SSR 336 47 1 (without block on axle), no number 1 at the end if it does have the block on the axle.

I feel like different numbers have been given. I have the MBS 3500 2015 model under a 2016 motorhome build, I have verified my sprinter is a 2015.

I finally found someone who can install them but I need to buy them and have not yet due to which item # for sure they are!

I think that adding Sumo's all the way around was the best mod ever.

Not only do they greatly help the sway and rocking, they make for a much quieter and smooth ride.

They also made the rig more naturally level. The last few campsites I have pulled into, I have not had to do any kind of leveling.

In addition, the rig is so stable once parked at campsites, I don't use the Bigfoots anymore.

What company are you all ordering the Summos from. I have a 2016 Solera R. How did you figure out what year the chassis is?

P2V Did you do any other suspension mod? Sway bar or shocks? Good to hear they are quite and smooth. Did you install yourself? If so, how difficult?

If the letter at 10th position of your VIN is F, it is 2015.

Use this decoder to figure out more information, Mercedes-Benz SPRINTER VIN Decoder - Lookup and check Mercedes-Benz SPRINTER VIN number and get options and specs for free. Search Mercedes-Benz SPRINTER history, price and car loans.

2010-2015 Mercedes Sprinter 3500 (excludes Sprinter with 2" block on axle below OE bumpstop) - SumoSprings (Rear)*

SKU:*ssr-336-54-1-mercedes-sprinter-3500-sumosprings*
MFG SKU:*SSR-336-54-1*

These are the specs for the sumo springs I ordered. The units we have do not have the elevated bump stop on the axle. I checked before ordering. The area beneath the factory bump stop is just plain axle.

The RV dealer service charged me 3 hrs to install the sway bar and the sumo springs. A deal in my opinion.

The M-B VIN will tell you as well as the M-B sticker in the door jamb. My 2016 Sunseeker MBS is built a 2015 M-B chassis....

Keep in mind these part numbers (at least for the rears) are for the less aggressive bump stop replacement units. The ones I installed are the type that attach to both the frame and the axle and will give both compression and tension resistance to the rolling of the vehicle. But as stated earlier I haven't had a chance to test them as yet. The rig is parked till mid January.
