First time rv'er. Long time boater and camper. So I'm setting up a permanent spot for my family and I to go to on weekends and holidays at the lake. I pulled the trigger a couple days ago after looking at one in person. Catch is, it's 13 hrs away in Michigan.

I'm gonna be headed up to get it in 2 weeks time, I'm gonna be searching through these forums but in the meantime, are there any tips or tricks for towing a new rv (that I don't really want trashed) over 900 miles back home?

Btw, here's a quick picture I snagged off the dealer's website. My local dealer couldn't get within $3k price wise so it was a no brainier to get one out of town.

That is a great looking trailer. Seems to be a very similar design to my 312qbud model. We have a 312qbud owners thread going with a bunch of tips and tricks for our units that would apply to your unit as well because they are so close in design.

I hope you planed some extra time if you are going to tow in Michigan in the winter. Here in southern Ontario we just went from rain to frozen roads in 4 hours. You will also have salty roads to deal with so you will have to wash the trailer well when you get home.

Yes I've planned the 13 hour trip to complete over two days with another day buffer if I really need it.

We just upgraded to this model. I bought locally so I don't have that many miles just yet. We just took it for an initial short run this last weekend. About 2 hours on highways, 2 lane roads and over a mountain. We have a GMC 2500HD that pulled the new trailer great! I was a little worried about the extra 8' and 3000lbs over our last TT but after this weekend I'm not so concerned. Just be sure to double check lug nuts and tire pressure.

Well, Friday I did 940 miles without a trailer. Today I did the pre delivery inspection and finalized the paperwork. Then I hit the road. Today I did 655 miles back the other way headed home.

My truck is a Ford F-150 FX2 EcoBoost. However it is not the cool one with the max tow or anything like that. I have a super high highway 3.15 rearend. However this truck does have a trailer brake controller installed as an option as well as the transmission cooler. So, my max tow is 8400 lbs. my TT empty is approx 7300lbs. So I'm pretty close.

I studied the transmission ratios and compared final drive ratios in 5th and 6th gear and compared it to the final ratio of the 3.73 rear end. My truck in 5th gear (with 6th locked out with the manual shifter) is near the same ratio. I don't plan on towing this rig really anywhere else that a significant distance although it doesn't tow poorly at all. I consistently ran 65 mph without issue. It was kind of windy today so I didn't want to push 70 mph with the side wind gusts I was getting.

I'm running Husky's version of the Equalizer 4point WDH.

Oh yeah... And here's what I normally tow behind it... 24', plus the swim platform and 5700lbs with trailer and gear.

Nice congrats I would suggest that if you were going to be towing it alot to upgrade to 10'ply tires when those wear down I also installed a helwig rear sway bar only issue I have is when big trucks pass me and the tires and rear sway bar all but stopped it unless the rig blows by me lol
