Well I see I ruffled a few feathers and my post on this was tongue in cheek to begin with.
This subject of 'best' comes up here often and there must be 50 threads on 'best grill.'
Yes... the Weber Q always gets a lot of mentions but NO ONE EVER says why.
It always gets the accolades but never any support data.
That's all I was looking for.
Even after asking, the responses weren't WHY it cooks better... just that it is.
I believe I'll buy some Weber stock tonight.
Happy camping!

If you are roasting something, the airflow under the lid keeps the oven temp even, and it's easier to keep the temperature where you want it without constantly adjusting the knob. The thermometer on the lid helps with that too.
And yes, it lasts forever. I'd rather spend $200 for a grill once, than spend $100 on a new one every year or two.

Thanks... your the first that took the time to explain.

Just like any other product, we all have our likes and dislikes, based on personal experience. Ask about tires and you'll get 100's of responses. I like Mich...n, and nothing anyone says or posts will change my mind. People like Lay's instead of Wise, Hershey instead of Nestle. We'll be the first to stand up for something we like whether or not we can explain WHY we like it over something else..
No feathers ruffled here!!!

X2 - sorry I have been in meetings all day or I would have posted...
The Q grills are thicker than tank armor. This is important because if you follow the instructions and pre-heat the grill before cooking you will instantly sear the outside of your meat/fish, locking in the juices and making the meat juicy and tender when it is served.
I would put a Weber-Q up against a Big Green Egg when it comes to grilling a steak.
Now, for every other task except direct fire grilling, a Traeger Junior Elite wood pellet grill is DA BOMB! In fact I will cold smoke my steaks/chicken/chops/whatever in the Traeger and then finish them on the Weber.
The Traeger can do just about anything! Of course it is a smoker, but it is a wood-fired convection oven as well so you can do everything from grilled veggies to wood fired pizza. Shoot we have even baked a cake in the thing and let me tell you now, peach cobbler made in a Traeger is Amazing!
So, for us, a combo Traeger/Weber Q is our outdoor kitchen

I'm lucky enough to have the cadillac of grills that makes my old weber Q seem like a toy. It's a Napoleon Infrared at 14,000 BTU and the stainless steel is such heavy gauge the grill weighs over 30 lbs.
I'm lucky because I got it a few years ago on eBay brand new for $65 and it retails for like $400
Steaks come out soooo good seared on the outside and so juicy inside in half the time.

Enough said.
Oh, did I mention that they last forever?

What am I missing here? If they last forever then why would you need to get parts?

best portable grill
One thing nobody on here has helped you with. The Coleman Road Trek is not really a grill. It is actually a glorified Coleman stove. I bought one a couple years ago for my son who needed a portable grill. I would not go there if you want to grill food.

lall the hoopla about gas grills, you all have one in the camper, called an oven; real grills burn charcoal brickets and smoke

Agreed, I had a Coleman road trip and it burned everything. Burner is too close to the grill, not enough room above the food to circulate the heated air. I burned everything! Bought a Weber and haven't looked back!

Another vote for the Weber Q. So I have had mine for 7 seasons. When I bought the vibe, the grill that came with it sucks. So I took the quick connect from that grill, took off the regulator on the Q and that fit perfectly. I also had the stand for the Q. I took off the legs and using the Velcro on the front and 2 clamps on the back, I am able to attach the top of the stand to the platform for the swing arm, and that holds the grill in place, uses the gas line from the camper and I am all set.

Any chance you have any pictures of that you can post? I'd love to see that, and do the same. Vibe grill does suck. But very curious on the regulator...I thought you had to adapt it to the low pressure type that is on the Vibe LP fitting. Also can't picture how you've got that mounted. Thanks!

Holland Companion, just picked one up about a month ago. You can cook almost anything on it like bacon and pizza.

Weber Q here. Love it EXCEPT that the burner tubes are exposed to drips and drops of marinade and fat. For that, we use grill mats but it changes the grilling experience a bit.
Other options:
Let’s talk grills – best, easiest, smallest. | Learn To RV
I'm excited- I just got a kit to convert the Weber Q to the camper's quick connect.
