Grill on the back of a 308BHS

My 308BHS has a grill on the back mounted to the bumper.

We use the thing all the time.

We picked up the trailer April 15 and the grill was just replaced under Warranty because it rusted out even through we kept the cover on it.

Any ideas on how to prevent this or who make the grill so I can purchase a spare one. There a no marking on it at all that I can see.

Sorry, I don't have an answer for you. You said you use your grill all the time. What is the trick for keeping the area under the grill grate clean and how do you manage grease?
Thanks

That is something I need to figure out. I believe that is what killed my grill. As you know it would just collect grease.

I was thinking of spraying it with layers of PAM.

Not sure if that works but I need it to last longer than 1 year

The 268RKS comes with this grill. Sorry, can't help you with the rust problem.

Bought a ss grill, drilled out rivets on old grill brackets, re-attached the brackets to ss grill, no more rust. Just make sure width is same.

What grill did you find that fit on the grill platform? I have not found one yet.

It was an Olympian 5500 by Camco. Because the burner plate is cast iron, I sometimes put Al foil on it and use with charcoal. Indirect heat method. The original cover works also.

Vibe Gas Grill Information

We purchased a 2017 268rks and it came with a Gas Grill from National Supply: Model #YH1801RV-1. 1-574-295-9200. It it attached to a stanchion that is bolted to the rear bumper and swings around to use with the outside kitchen. I attached a PDF file with a picture and details. We love it. Yes, I can understand that it will probably rust out quickly as it is very light weight steel; however, like you I would not complain about having to replace it periodically.

Good luck!

I would agree that's the same grill on all those bumper mount units. If you spray on couple of cans of BBQ paint inside and out you might get a couple of years out of it.
We used ours for the first time this weekend. It was already rusty. The grill itself is very cheap, a $20 disposable unit. The bracket seems to be well made and I will try to do like most and adapt a decent grill to it.

I have the same TT and am having the same issue. I'll definitely be keeping up with this post. I'm planning on just repainting until a suitable replacement option is decided on

Just purchased the same grill that came on my 308bhs from Camping World for $90. I assume that most FR Vibes come with the same one.

Camping World offered me a 2yr replacement Warranty for an extra $10. So as we all know its going to rust out again and fall apart so at least till 2019 I can get a new one.

Hope this helps anyone else with the grill issues

I replaced the grill that came with my 315BHK with this model of the Charbroil infrared grill and it bolts right to the plate that the old grill mounts on. It's also fairly easy to modify the cover for the original grill to fit.

I use a standard dish sponge hot water and dawn soap to clean it at the end of a camping trip

Taking delivery of our 308BHS next week! I'm already seeing this happen as well once I looked at the grill. Not the best build. So what other replacement options for a better grill? Can you adapt one of those portable Weber Q or Coleman Roadtrips to that bracket?

I don't think it will natively.

I am sure there is someway to make it happen with modification to the bracket.

I would love to get the Weber to fit that bracket.

On my old pop-up, I did all the cooking outside on a 2-burner, 1-pound tank stove. Has anyone found a stove-type burner to attach to the QD fitting from the trailer? I've used the grill once & it's a POS. Thanks.

We're you able to adapt to the onboard propane system, Or do you have to use bottles?
