Heat ducts

We have a 30vsk. There are 4 heat ducts in the floor. There are 3 hoses running under floor. Only 2 heat ducts flow heated air. Is this normal or proper? It don't seem right to me. How is your similar trailer set up?

I assume by heat ducts in the floor you mean registers. If that's the case then they all should have warm air flowing from them when the furnace is on. The ones closer to the furnace will flow more air but they all should flow some.

The three hoses are the ducts and one of them probably feeds the 4 registers and the other ones probably feed the bed and bath rooms. At least that's how it is on the RV we have now.

You can take a shop vac, remove the registers and see if you can get it to suck air through each floor opening to the others. That may tell you if the duct is blocked between two or more registers.

The bath and rear living room hose flopps like its not connected. When I disconnect hose from furnace I can tell difference in air flow at registers. My logic is not understanding what they were trying to accomplish ? I don't want to mess with the underbelly cover, if I don't have to.

Check the diameter of the ducts that are not flowing well. In my unit the ducts going to the bedroom ( longest run) are only 2" diameter and have less flow than the larger ones going to main area and bathroom. Also if possible using mirror or lighted pipe scope, check for restrictions. I had several areas where the ducts were crushed by structure and electrical wiring being pulled too tight across them.

Like Flybob, the duct going to the bedroom register is 2" and so is the one going to the bath. They're the longest runs in the RV.

If you have the 'heated' underbelly then all they do is run an open ended duct under there near the tanks and let it flow. That could be one of the 2" ducts you see.

About the only thing they were trying to accomplish was to run it as cheaply as possible. That's why all four registers are hooked to one 3" duct.

I have the V-Cross Vibe 5th wheel. 2014. The heat ducting, 4 inch aluminum foil dryer vent type, was completely crushed on installation. I had to cut access panels in the cardboard under the camper and reroute the heat to a new register in the center of the dining area. I came right out if the heater and over the adjoining hot water tank and down into the floor and then over about 3 feet to a new register, using semi-rigid ducting. I now have WONDERFUL heat.

I have registers in living room, kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. All registers have warm air with the furnace on. Yours should as well.

Dealer found similar issue with my ducting... all bunched up and kinked. He removed 5 feet of surplus ducting that was causing it to bunch up, now much better flow. Had to be done in the heated underbelly...

It could be as simple as the duct separating from the floor allowing heat to go into the underbelly.

I pulled a newbie and left my "Damp Rid" on the counter while driving. It hit the floor and dumped in through the register into the duct. I proceeded to remove the register to clean out the duct when I discovered the top of the duct had separated from the floor of the coach, allowing heat to escape. This explained why my rear heat vent was barely flowing.

Well after a brutal Florida january 33f. Trailer was comfortable. The 2 operating heat ducts, removed 3 rd hose and let heated air blow out cover grill. The floor is the warmest we have had.
