Water coming out of city connection

2017 forest river vibe 268rks, first time using fresh water tank. As soon as I turn on my water pump, water pours out of city water connection. Is there a valve i need to shut off or am I missing a backflow preventer? Is that easy to install since im 3 hrs from dealer...

I had the same problem with my Surveyor just made a plug to fit in city connection but the problem is the inlet check valve is not working . Check valve is part of your city connection.

Check your plumbing

I would suggest u get a look at all the plumbing in that area. Forest River seems to have trouble connecting things correctly. My city water connection and black tank flush were connect backwards. So when I hooked up the city water to the camper I filled up the black tank till it over flowed at the stool and roof vent.

There should be a check right at the city water connection. On mine, if I remove the filter screen it is visible, and I can actually push on it to release pressure if I want. Could be yours is stuck so pulling the screen and poking at it a bit with your finger might be helpful.
