What hitch do you use?

We bought a husky with the trailer and had it installed at the dealer. We have a 13 Tundra. We are having a really hard time getting it hitched.

Thanks.

What is it you are saying? "hard time getting it hitched" do you mean the coupler doesn't fit over the ball or the stinger won't go in the hitch? or you can't line it up

The sway bars are really hard to line up (I think that's what they are called). My husband has to move the truck slightly or he and our oldest have to put full weight on them to get it to work. I'm wondering if it's normal or if we should change it out.

We use a Blue Ox hitch and it is the easiest hitch to hookup we've every had, one of the most stable as well. It's not the cheapest hitch but it's one of the best in my opinion.

When I had TTs the best hitch was equalizer 4 point with sway control. Attach the trailer to the truck and raise the hitch and the bars slid right in. If the truck was not lifted 3 men and a little boy could not get them in place. Nothing like an electric tongue jack to get it up.

You didn't specify which Husky hitch package you have, but if you're trying to mount the torsion bars with all the weight of the TV on the tongue, it's no wonder. Knowing what your unladen ball base height is helpful. Couple your TV then raise to that height and the torsion bars should snap right in. Then you can lower your hitch and the weight distribution happens. Removal is the reverse process. Never attempt to remove a torsion bar with full tongue weight applied. That's a good way to break your arm or wrist.

I use the Blue Ox WDH myself on a 2016 F-150. It's easy to hook up. I also added air bags. I get a little sway when a tractor trailer passes by me but that is expected, when I don't have a dually, and still running tires that came with the truck.

X2... I use the equalizer 4pt hitch. Easy to setup, install, and hitch, especially if you have an electric tongue jack.

Our dealer set us up with a Fastway Trailer (Progress Mfg.) e2 Round Bar hitch (800 Lb. model) and we've been happy with it.

If anywhere close to straight, and with the hitch coupled and then the combo lifted to the right height, the torsion bars are downright easy.

Jeff dialed the way-back (flashback ??) machine to when his parents first upgraded from a canvas A-frame tent trailer to a 1966 West Wind 16-foot travel trailer, this was like 1972, it had a chain-type torsion bar hitch ... his dad hated it, until they discovered the "Zen" of lifting the combo, and then it was "Eazy Peazy" to snap them snug and insert the lock pins. Think it may have been a Reese, but would NOT wager $64K on that detail.

Andersen

I switched to an Andersen because I can't be lifting and straining to connect the hitch. This one is for weight distribution and sway control. All I do is connect like usual then put in one pin for the hitch. Sometimes, I need to move the truck to align the plate with the trailer but the Tundra does that work!

What others are saying when they say lift the hitch is this. Lower the trailer onto the ball and secure it. Using the tongue jack raise the front of the trailer and rear of the tow vehicle(TV) so that the TV is level or a little higher. Connecting the bars to the trailer is now going to be a piece of cake. Lower the tongue jack so that all of the weight is now on the back of the TV. The TV and trailer should now be level. If not repeat the process and go up or down another link on the bar chains. Clear as mud, right!

Around Goshen the Double Tree hitch seems to be the one of choice! Looks like they would be suitable for Fords since they are usually installed on 2 horsepower units! Youroo! !
