Would like to put a door on the slide out side in the front compartment. Has anyone done this or will there structural problems doing so?

I have not done it. I own a 2015 178, and I think it would be fairly easy, if you copied the door on the curbside, including placement. The aluminum frame structures are similar on both sides. You can use a stud finder to make sure you are not cutting a frame section out.
