2015 Rpod 179 airconditioner

The air conditioner in our new Rpod has a sporadic issue, but unfortunately, it seems the 'spasms' are happening during the sleep time hours.

It turns on and off rapidly, I have counted as quickly as 3 seconds on and 3 seconds off. Help

When you say "it", do you mean the compressor only or the whole thing? In other words does the fan keep running?

Have you tried both fan on and auto setting to see if there is a difference (assuming you have both options)?

I will look to see if we have both options. I know right now, with the air conditioner on, the fan is not running constantly. Are you thinking of a possible cause?

Sorry, more info....yes the fan and compressor are on and off. It seems the fan usually kicks on before the compressor, but at the 3 second intervals, there's not much of a difference.

Well I was researching this thread a little bit but it sounds like several possible options depending on your symptoms. I thought if you were on auto it might be worth testing running it on low or high just so you have a little more info:

Our thermostat does not give us the option to have the fan in anything but auto for the air conditioner

I spoke to the Dometic rep at the Frog Rally (Goshen), He said the problem is that the thermostat has a tolerance of plus or minus one degree and being so close to the A/C unit causes it to short cycle.

I have seen that some Podders have made covers to prevent direct air flow on the thermostat, and said it took care of the short cycling. I'm going to work on one for our 179, hope it works.
