Anyone added solar to an RPOD 190?

We just picked up our 190 and are looking into solar.

Did you put panels on the roof or just use the portable panels?

Thanks for any info.

I use portable panels in mine. Work good, but I just use them for small loads like charging phones, etc.

The advantage of portable panels is they can be moved to follow the sun during the day. Disadvantage is they could 'walk' away.

I had a panel installed on the roof permanently. It has honestly been a great addition. I live in the Yukon Canada and post of the campgrounds here have no power hookups. The single battery is virtually charged fully all the time. On one very rainy weekend camping trip we did eventually run out of power. Otherwise we love it. Nothing to setup and no chance of stuff going missing.

Thanks for replying.

Did you buy your panel through the dealer? Did they install it?

We ended up buying portable panels but I was worried about them when we left our campsite for hikes and was happy to see them when we got back. I do think they might walk away if we are at busier campgrounds.

Yes I had the dealer install it. I will say it was the best addition we did at purchase time. Its 3 years old now and has never caused a problem. Iam not certain what type of life I will get from it but for now no issues at all. I agree that having the portable units is a bit worrisome.

Cheers
