"C" channel

What's the function of the "c" shaped channel that runs along the top edge of the door side of my new Rpod 171?

It's for the R-dome awning/tent.

I hear you. Our 182g is our first RV ever, so we had a big learning curve. After traveling to Alaska over 9 days on the road, I learned a lot. One thing I would recommend is pull up all the cushions, etc and look underneath. I reclaimed a lot of storage room upfront by doing that and moving a panel. Took a few cuts with a jigsaw to get it to fit, but it created a lot more space in the front, outside storage. Here's a shot of the r-dome. Ours came with it, and while I might not have gotten it otherwise, it really is pretty cool. Especially since it can zip up into an enclosed tent. No mosquitoes
