hood river edition question
Hi. I am going to order a new 2015 179 I just read that there is an option called the hood river edition for the 179. I checked on the forest river web site to see what is included in this option, but it didn't show any such option. Can someone please explain this hood river edition thing to me. thanks phil

There are very few differences.
Bigger "off road" 15" tires
Axle Risers Standard
Diamond plating both on the front and inside the wheel wells
And that is it. At times during production the HRE models may vary slightly from their equivalents from the East. But the above are the only differences.
Most Pods now, even non HREs oven have risers standard these days, the East ones have the Diamond plate on the front and you "could" get it in the wheel wells if you wanted.
They really are the same Pods.

The sales guy at couchs told me the hood river edition can only be ordered by people in the Oregon region. I would prefer having the 15 inch tires over the 14. It would give you a little more ground clearance .

They are all over here in the west for sale. Advised one of my customers into a 178 and she bought a HRE and loves it. Was a perfect pull with her Ridgeline.

I checked with the dealer I am going to buy from and he told me he can't order me the hood river edition.I would love to have the larger tires. But all those R Pods out your way with the hood river edition are to far away to be of any good for me. ) forest river should allow the option to anyone that wants it. But in our day and age its take it or leave it. Forget the customer

You could order a regular R-Pod with the riser option and add your own 15 tire and wheel package. That's my plan once I sell my A-122 A-Frame camper.

Mike G you think like I do. That's what I was thinking. Also I can choose a wheel I like . we almost purchased one of the a frames like yours. Glad we didn't not enough room. We went with a high wall camper by Rockwood .with a 16 foot box. After one year of putting it up and down I am sick of it. I like the 18 mpg I was getting, but the cons out weight the great mpg's . Like you we have it for sale

I am hoping by next year I will have a new R-177 and this will be my wheel choice.
Does anybody want a very clean 2012 A-122 A-Frame? Mine is listed for sale.

If you really want a hood river edition, buy from a dealer here in the west and pay to have it transported to you. Heck, i live 5 minutes from the factory and would deliver for a fee!

The Hood River Edition is a excellent add for the Rpod. The package is available on models built by Forest Rivers plant in Dallas Oregon. I currently have 11 units on my lot now.
Any questions about any aspects of the Rpod lifestyle feel free to ask.

I added the axle risers to my regular 177 and kept the 14 inch tires. It looked fine, and it was sure nice to get the pod up a little higher. I ordered the axle risers directly from FR and put them in myself. I think the cost was about $160. Poulsbo RV in Seattle told me the risers would void my warranty. FR said this was not accurate. The HRE is very nice, and seem to be higher quality...

We ordered ours from a dealer in San Diego (2015 RP-179 hood river edition) and LOVE it! We tow it with our 2014 Jeep JKU Rubicon and go everywhere with it.

Hood River Editioin Question
Sutton RV may only have 10 units available. Three days ago I picked up my 2016 RP179 after trading in a RP178. Great crew, great prices, and a great new roomer RP. Towed it home in high winds and it worked like a charm. Thanks Sutton RV

Just took delivery of a 178 Hood River Edition from FunTime RV in Portland Oregon and they just got their fall shipment
Of R-Pods in and most all of them are Hood River Editions. I tow with a 2015 Tacoma Dbl cab TRD OffRoad with 6500 tow pkg. tows the 178 great and no need for mirror extensions.

I love the Hood River edition. Of course, coming from the gorge, what else would I choose?

Zamp solar is in Bend. The Hood River Edition is made in Dallas, Oregon (near Salem).
I am going to set up a factory tour next month. Do you have a particular interest I could ask about?
