Jeep wranglers - Not unlimited

We are about to purchase a 179 model and would like to use a 2015 jeep wrangler as a TV. This Tv would be a regular jeep. So it wouldn't be the unlimited model that has the longer wheel base. Has anyone pulled an R-pod with this type of model? If so, how did the towing go vs your expectations? The TV will be purchased later this year so the specs will be determined later.

I have an '09 Sahara Unlimited, it's the 4 door, I regularly tow my 21 foot bay boat which weights in at around 3800lbs.

You can go check out JKForum.com, you will find more information on what Wranglers are capable of.

sorry, according to Jeep's website, the Wrangler has a max towing capacity of only 2000lbs.(IF properly equipped), which the R-pod 179 is WAY over. there's no R-pod even close to that amount even "dry".

even the lightest of popups might be too much.

Wranglers are not good tow vehicles for towing travel trailers.
boats are a different thing, lighter tongue weight and virtually no air resistance.

I tow my new 179 with a wrangler unlimited four door. I am happy with the way it tows, but there is NO way I would attempt it with the two door version. If you would consider the four door, then you have the best of both worlds, and fun trailer and a fun tow vehicle!

Thanks! I really love this jeep, it's been a lot of fun. Also this is my first trailer, went from tents to a pop up and now to the r pod and we are really loving the 179, it's perfect size and has a great list of features!

Anvil10a, glad to hear you are towing with a 10a. I plan to tow my 181g with JKUR 10a. Hope the new color scheme matches my Anvil!
