Unhappy Jensen Stereo

Certainly not a big problem, but I read somewhere that there is a way to turn off the clock, that is the lights on the stereo (JWM6A) as it is one of the things that is a drain on the battery when not hooked up to shore power and also because its a bit bright and annoying -especially in the middle of the night. Any help would be appreciated.

My Jensen JCD2010 has three wires that deal with power. A heaver gauge yellow wire labeled +12VDC Battery (Memory), a light gauge orange wire labeled illumination/dimmer, and a light gauge red wire labeled +12VDC switched (ACC).

Apply full time power to only the yellow +12VDC Battery (Memory). Put the other two wires, the orange and red wire on a switch. Doing this saved 45mA of parasitic power draw and shuts off the illumination.

The liquid crystal display (LCD) panel (1) displays the frequency, time and activated functions. To adjust the brightness of the LCD, press the BRIGHT +/- buttons (2) to adjust the LCD brightness from “LEVEL OFF” to “LEVEL 9” (brightest).

Instructions link, see page 4.

We installed a battery cut-off switch. Only way to keep detectors from vampiring batteries to death. That will solve your problem too.

That was a silly reply on my part. You meant while camping without shore power.
