R-Dome Awning

Do you find the R-Dome Awning to be practical and worth while expense for use with your Rpod? How does it hold up especially in rain?

I've seen very few owners over the past 4 years that do not LOVE their dome. Once you're used to putting it up it goes up quickly and easily. It is great shade, wonderful protection in rain, we sit in our dome during the heaviest of storms and play board games.

If you have a nice heater and you're all zipped up you can get the dome nice and warm and toasty even in very very cold temperatures.

Rolling up the sides and/or removing the front you get plenty of airflow and it serves as a great awning.

It is quite common amongst owners to adopt this phrase, "The Dome...is Home!"

Thanks for the feedback. Can you order the dome through forest river or just through the dealer? I'm thinking of trading up my 2014 forest river a122bh for the rpod 179 for more room and ease of use.

It is almost always cheaper through Forest River than through your dealer. They are also sold on numerous websites. They are called the Dometic Cabana in that case.

With the 179 being new though you'd best be served from ordering it from Forest River. Those of us who have seen the 179's in person wonder whether or not the Dome will fit as precisely.

Always happy to support our Rpod community. Current or perhaps future owners!

The r-dome does not fit the R-179 properly. The bike rack does not work properly either and we have been waiting since last july for a solution from Forest River.

There are videos on youtube of some of us owners setting them up.

And other tips, a bit of silicone spray in the C-channel rail helps it slide in really easily.

Beyond that it's just a little bit of practice really.
