RPod gear storage

I am awaiting delivery on a 2015 176T. I was wondering if anyone had experimented with installing any kind of cargo cages? Either by using the rear trailer coupling (used for the bake carrier) or by extending the tongue and welding onto the frame in front of the cabin?

Adding something like that to the rear receiver will void warranties. The only thing FR wants back there is the bike carrier.

If you have it reinforced and modified to accept heavier weights they will tell you that it may void the warranty of the frame.

I have seen owners over the years do exactly what you're discussing but they aren't the type who worry about warranties as modifying their Pods to suit their needs was the whole point of buying it.

A popular front end modification the past year or so has been the addition of a truckbed toolbox to the front of the Pod where the battery box is now.

Again I've seen owners build and add entire new backends, bumpers, and storage devices on the front and back.

Thanks Travis. You're right about me not being worried about the warranty . And what's the likelihood of the frame failing? Million to one?

What I have been envisioning is welding a pre-fab cargo carrier to the frame just in front of the cabin. I'm unsure if I would relocate the propane and battery forward of that, or re-install them in or on top of the cargo carrier. I may be able to do this without extending the tongue but I was worried about turn radius', jack-knifing, etc.

Thanks for the reply.

So you're a new owner I wager? What model and wherabouts are you?

You'll have to join up and meet some of us at some of the Rpod Rallies throughout the year.
