Rpod Slide out

I'm a newbie and I was wondering how the Rpod slide out should be deployed. Is it ok to have the slide out deployed when it is raining? Will it leak?

Don't have an Rpod but have had 4 campers with slide outs. They shouldn't leak in the rain. Just make sure the top & side wipers are in the correct position, that is facing out. We've had ours out in torrential downpours with no problems.

I have a 182g and haven't had a problem yet. When I level my camper I set the side with the slide just a little lower so the water will run away from the camper just in case.

Your Pod will be very happy and snug in the rain, no worries.

Slide out cover

We are considering a slide out cover. It is mounted across the top and unrolls as the slide out is deployed. We spend a lot of time in woods where there are sticks and pine cones that come down. I am worried about these things damaging the seals. Does anyone have experience with these?

Yes they do help a lot. But I carry a little step stool and instead of installing one I sweep the top off just before I pull in my slide. But I only have one slide on mine if I had two or three slides I would for sure be investing in a few of them.

you must not have seen a slide topper. there's no way they can damage the slide seals.
the tree debris will cause more damage than the slide topper.

we also camp in forested campgrounds and ended up getting a slide topper for our HTT's 12' slideout.
so glad we did and it's been worth the expense for the past 6 years since it was installed.

I have a slide out topper on my 177, it can't hurt the seals. We were camping before the slidout, and the campground got 6 inches of rain in one day while we were there, no water got in the camper at the slide.

Bought a 2015 r-pod 178 about one month ago. Brought it home from dealer and set it up in the drive with the slide out. Severe thunderstorms hit shortly after, with very heavy downpours and high winds. I was concerned about the slide out, and... no leaks. On various trips since then, it has rained a few times with the slide out... no leaks.

We shopped around for months before buying... the r-pod is perfect for our needs & WE LOVE IT!
