Upgraded battery storage box

I haven't even had my 189 for a week and the mods have already started. I purchased a harbor freight tounge box for around $70. I had to bend the propane tank holder a little and rotate it 180 degrees to make it fit. I put a piece of plywood across the bottom, ran the battery straps underneath it and screwed through the plywood into the frame. I used metal stud electrical grommets to protect the wires from the sharp edges. The battery vent kit and the battery disconnect switch come tomorrow. Click image for larger version

That looks good. You are running 2 6volt batteries as I can see. Is there enough room in that box for 3 of the 12 volt group 24 batteries? A quick way to tell would be to see if another 6volt would fit because they are about the same size. Another question, was there enough room to slide the box toward the rear of the camper so it would drop down between the frame rails and sit on top of the original battery angle iron? Thanks in advance. Jay.

I am running 2 6v. I don't think you could fit a third. It is within a quarter inch of being able to put them in the other direction at which point you could.

It is as far back as it can go.
