I own a Big Country Fifth Wheel 36' and a 2019 180 R-pod, I just use my F250 to tow my R-pod.

R-Pod 172
Just bought a 2016 172. We used a Kia Sedona 6 cylinder with sway bars. We didn't have a 7 prong connector because our hitch installer put a 4 prong on our vehicle. Getting that changed out on the 19th. The mini van did great because of its wide wheel base. However, I was very surprised at the low mpg we got. Other than that it pulled great and was very easy to handle. Now we just have to fix all the mini-problems like water heater anode etc...

What is low mpg? Consider 9-12 towing mpg normal.

Ok cool then it was normal mpg. Good to know but now realize I will be making many more stops at the gas pump

No not yet, going to do that when I have the 7 pin installed. Do you suggest any from this page? https://www.etrailer.com/bc-2016_Kia_Sedona.htm
I don't think I need one for 4 axles do I? There is quite a large gradient in prices...

I have a 2010 r-pod RP174. I started towing with an FJ cruiser but found it had a lot of sway that was very scary. I even have an anti sway brake bar in the hitch. My wife would not ride in the vehicle after seeing a few flipped rigs on the turnpike. I thought it was because the FJ was too short of a wheel base and too high up (not lifted). I now have a Nissan Frontier Pro 4. It is a longer wheel base and not as high but the sway is thill there. I think it is because the water holding tank is behind the axle. Bad design I think. Anybody with similar experiences?

Is your rPod level or slightly nose down when hitched to your tow vehicle? If not, adjust your hitch height. If it is, you need to increase tongue weight by shifting load forward in the trailer. Your tow vehicle should also be level when hitched up.
You would be well advised to get some local help with your set up.

Yes, all is level. It has to be since the r-pod sits so low (It looks like the newer ones sit much higher than mine). Also, what I have learned from other threads on this site is that most people tow with the water tank empty because of this very issue. I have noticed that the sway is much less coming home when the tank is low or empty too.

Have been towing my 171 with a 2012 Chevy Express AWD 1/2 ton cargo van, a friction sway bar, no issues.
Changing now to a 2019 Freightliner Sprinter F2CA4X 3/4 ton cargo van.

I bought a Hensley Cub Hitch system which eliminated all sway and makes all my trips dream vacations. The answer is not a bigger tow vehicle.
