I have had several issues with the quality control and customer service concerning my sandstorm trailer. I think it is an attractive trailer and tows well, the fit and finish are horrid, I have had numerous issues and have only had the rig long enough to make a single payment.

My primary concern is the mold I found under the bed on the storage access panel, simply unacceptable. Further more the bed board was offset 4 inches to one side, so the mattress wasn't properly supported. It appears the roof vent was left open or not yet installed during assembly and rain came in through said vent, which caused the chip board to warp and mold.

When I emailed Rob Olson of Sandstorm about the mold I didn't even get a reply. So not only are the quality control issues, customer service is non existent.

I repaired the bed myself, because I needed it done right away, and I didn't want that nasty cheap chip board - moldy or not. The 2 lower pictures are of the repairs.

Its a bummer that this trailer has had so many issues already. I was excited to get a forest river product, because I thought it was a step up from my previous trailers but with this Lemonstorm, I wonder what I have gotten myself in to.

On the way home from my first camping trip I notice the side skirts on the drivers side of the trailer flapping going down the road.

I really love the Solar setup on this trailer, and I wanted to add an inverter, so i looked around for a god place to mount the inverter and run the cabling, and low and behold another issue.

The screws used to hold the circuit breaker in place were installed backwards so they would not protrude outwards, this was done so the install could use self drilling self tapping screws ( guess it is just too much work to install a nut).

The screw protruded far enough that it was contacting the insulation of the butt connector and had worn part way through the blue insulation.

Again Bravo Sandstorm for a job well done. Not!!!

On a more fun note, I made a labeled switch panel for my lights, because none of them are labeled.

This trailer has a bunch of great features. I love the Solar, has lots of room, 40 gallon fuel cell, 160 gallons fresh water and tows really nice.

The interior looks good, has large refer, oven, and microwave.

The slide I didn't want initially, but really opens up the inside, its nice to be able to walk around my can am to access the tie downs, etc.

This Last weekend, took a trip to Mammoth Ca. I was thankful that I only had a molding strip fall off, i thought maybe I was over the SandStorm blues.

Low and behold after a few hot days back at home, the Arctic package that is held on by nothing but duct tape on the under belly of my prized LemonStorm is falling off. I will post some pictures this weekend.

Once again, Bravo! Is duct tape the best you can do?

BTW, still no response to the emails I sent SandStorm.

I think buyer beware is in order. I hope the other Forest River Product are built better than the SandStorm.

The Mammoth trip was Epic. Fantastic weather lots of snow on the mountain, beautiful water falls, and hundreds of miles of riding.

Only thing that could have made the trip better is staying up there for more days.

That's weird. My artic pack is held on with screws and washers on my 2015 285. Sounds like they forgot to finish yours. That sucks!

On the plus side I found a box knife taped underneath the auxiliary water tank.

From the butchered covers, I assume a repair was made at the factory.

Yes, this kinda sucks, I made a poor choice. My previous trailer was a Heartland, I think my next one will be as well.

Dave, sounds like you did get a shitty built Sandstorm. This is my second forest river product and still don’t like the company. They do add nice upgrades like the solar. My wife liked the Sandstorm better than the other toy haulers we were looking at, so here I am with another Forest🤬 River. The nice thing is I’ll have it paid of in 5 years from date of purchase and it’s working for us now. I have no slides but I do like the extra room they give. I’ve done a bunch of upgrades, 3 battery tray(1 for generator/2 for system), 1500watt inverter, fan vent in kitchen and replaced one in bathroom, vent covers, and DC circuit meter for volts, and amp draw. I still want to add another solar panel to decrease charge time and increase day time amps.
All I can say is good luck with you’re local RV dealer and trying to get warranty work done in a timely fashion.
