1000 Islands-Associate Island/KOA or Wellesley Island?

We're planning a trip to the 1000 Islands in late June 2014 for two adults and two dogs. I am trying to decide between staying at the Associate Island/KOA (Premium Lake Front Site) or Wellesley Island State Park (Loop C Site 74). The KOA will cost me $200 more for the 7 nights than the state park. Pros and cons appreciated!!

I don't have experience at the campgrounds on the U.S. side of the border in the 1000 Islands but if you are interested in staying on the Canadian side I can offer some advice.

Wellsley Island is nice - good sites, fairly peaceful. We haven't been to Association Island since they became a KOA, but it looks great - they had a nice booth at the RV show. Sites are close together and the price is the main drawback. Can't go wrong either way - I think it probably comes down to the great view at Association vs the price at Wellsley.

We go up that way a lot, but Cedar Point SP is our spot. There are about 6 sites with electric right on the seaway. The ships tend to go through right around dusk. Those sites have gotten nearly impossible to get over the last few years. There is a row with full hookups right behind that, but they are pretty tight. We usually don't go unless we can get one of the sites on the seaway.
