14 inch tires are L rated
I didn't realize it till this weekend. I looked at the Castlerock tires on my camper and they are L rated for 75 mph. I figured they would be 65mph. Lions Head tire website is wrong with the specs at 65mph. They told me they haven't updated the website to reflect the L rating. My tires are the 14 inch size. Maybe the tires are getting better. My camper was built on 2/22/16

Recent gov't rule change has resulted in ST tires now being rated for 75mph. If they don't say anything, they're 65mph. If they do, they're whatever they say.

I was just out checking the air pressure in my tires, getting ready for the upcoming weekend trip and noticed I had Castle Rock Tires as well. Didn't think to check the rating, and I already knew they were 50 psi tires. I just "assumed" from previous TT tires they were 65 mph rated. So after reading your post I went back out and seen my TT tires are also rated the same as yours. Ha Ha, Maybe I should have paid closer attention when looking the first time. Nice to know.  Thanks for posting this info.

This past weekend one of my Castle Rock tires exploded and another started bulging. This was on my 2016 Heritage Glen with less than 3000 miles on them. Speed limits where I was driving ranged between 60 and 70 so I was driving between 60 and 75 on the 500 mile trip. Also did around $1,000 of damage to the trailer from the blowout.

Bet they are made in China, if so it dosn't matter what is says on the tire. It is all crap.

As for me I wouldn't want to tow any faster than 62 mph and I wouldn't tow without my TST 507 Tire monitor. The monitoring system pays for itself the first time it detects any tire anomalies. It has saved us several times.

not all china tires are created equal ! so it really does matter what it says on the tire !

The main reason things are made in China is it cheaper even when you add 12000 miles in a shipping container. The rubber is bargain basement and the steel belts start to rust as soon as the tire leaves the mold. The average 16 inch ST tire costs about $30.00 when it hits the dock in Long Beach. Now that is real quality.

I agree with Old Bob. 62 mph is my max and I have a tpms system. I also think many reasons for tire problems are overloading, speeding and not checking tire pressure and tires for defects regularly.

Like others I never tow faster then 61 (on my gps) regardless of the speed limit. easier on everything and I get my best fuel milage. I do need to add a tpms system.

Again that's not the case for all china products Saam as not allrpoducts made in USA are good or Mexico . I run Hercules brand on my truck and trailer and in 10yrs and over 80,000 miles not one issue . will buy again and again

1. Looks like a Tread Separation so I would classify as a factory issue not due to low inflation leak
2. A complaint should be filed with NHTSA
3. Tire should be replaced
4. Damage should be paid for by tire company/RV company as they made the tire and selected the tire supplier.
5. You should not have to file insurance claim that would probably affect your future rates.
6. You should not have to pay any deductible. let the dealer file complaint with their insurance company for selling a defective product.
7. Can you post the DOT serial so we can learn which tire company actually made the tire?
