we recently purchased a 2011 Catalina 26bh for our first TT. we have 4 boys and all 6 of us ride bikes. I have read before some TT's bumpers cant hold the weight of bike racks and a receiver would have to welded from the frame. sounds good in theory but my stabilizers are right next to the bumper and i would be unable to weld a receiver from that area. my question is would you be able to put a receiver on the bumper (ubolt) to hold the weight of the bikes or will it break the bumper welds?
6 bouncing bikes on a flexing bike rack, attached to a bumper with thin welds, by a bolt-on receiver?

As long as it's welded and braced to the frame AND bumper.
And it's a sturdy rack.
I recommend Swagman.
Remember your TT doesn't have shocks.

I had a receiver welded to the frame of my Roo 19. The stabilizers were about 4 inches from the bumper. See attached drwg of the beefed up receiver and pics.
I had 2 bikes on it. I wouldn't put more than 2 on it, though.
The one on my Mini Lite is somewhat different, but don't yet have any pics of it.
That looks great they did a great job on that. Id put more than 2 on that. Ive been talking to a neighbor about doing the same thing but we need room for 4 bikes. I don't like the idea of having them in the front over the gas tanks. For now they will be in the bunk room wrapped in HF Moving blankets.
Thanks for the reply. i spoke with a few dealers and friends and im going to try the 4 bike platform tight, i also found in my research the 4 square safety struts my mount-n-lock.com which is marketed to increase your bumper support weight to 400lbs and prevent bumper failure. hell i enjoy gambling.
