2011 F-350 w/ Class V hitch

OK I have an 2011 F-350 and it comes with an class V hitch but you cant find a 2 1/2 inch ball mount for nothing.

My truck has electronic sway control so if I could find a 2 1/2 ball mount I could forgo the weight distribution hitch.

My trailer is GVWR of 10,500 and my truck can hall that to the moon but the rules say by far less with an adapter. If I can dry load I can haul 8000K with no wheels, 8K suspended in the air.

I have considered having a custom ball mount made but i worry the legitimacy of the welds.

I would still Use the WD hitch even with the electronic S-C in the truck....did you try Camping World ??(for the hitch)

I haven't heard anyone requesting a 2 1/2 in ball, most are 2 5/16. Is your trailer tongue a 2 1/2"

The hitch reciever is 2 1/2"...I bought a sleeve to fit over the 2" ball mount...If thats what you are talking about.

He is talking about the RECEIVER not the ball. I have a HD Sierra with the 2 1/2 inch receiver as well. NO idea where to buy a bar (or WD hitch) for it either. They seem to only be sold only in 2 inch and we need to use a reducer. These cause a lot of noise from "play" in the hitch with the adapter in it.

Apples and Oranges here,
First, the 2 1/2" mount i am guessing is the receiver. New 3/4 and 1 ton trucks usually come with an insert to fit standard 2" receiver mount (at least all my GM's have). The ball on the receiver should be 2 5/16 for a TT of the weight you list (10,500).

A weight distribution hitch is still required for a trailer of that weight. Not sure what you mean by 8000k dry load with no wheels, the payload of a 350 is lower than 8000 by quite a bit, tow capacity is different than load capacity, and then you need to figure tongue weight of a TT as well.

Sway control and weight distribution are also different things however some WDH has sway control built in. I note this because you said you had sway control, but you still need weight dist to get the TT weight to the front axle.

If you want the real numbers you need to let us know which model 350 and the TT model so we can have real numbers.

This was just from a quick google search so there are probably lots out there. Not cheap, but then when you have a TV like that 150.00 is peanuts.

Thanks, I made a not of that link in case I ever go back to a TT for my next camper. (I still have my 12K WD hitch in the shed just in case)

Ford doesn't supply the adaptor like GM does. Pretty tacky in my opinion. Go with the Ford OEM adaptor. According to the folks at the ford-trucks.com forum it is about 60 bucks and the only adaptor that fits well.

Call your dealer parts guy and ask him.

I bought my reducer adapter, 2 1/5 to 2, from uhaul for $14.95. It fits very well. I also bought a piece of square tubing the right size and inserted one of my 2" ball mounts and welded it in place, drilled outh the pin holes and it also work very well.

There is a lot of slop...play with the sleeve so I had mine spot welded to take out most if not all of the slop. It works great that way.
