2014 Camping Season Start

Will be de-winterizing tomorrow and our first trip will be to Lancaster, PA on April 4. Interested in where everyone will start their 2014 Season?

2014 Camping Season Start

Ours started last weekend....drove south about 200 miles to skirt the incoming snow. It worked....just had to winterize when we got back.

Great opener for our family.

I guess "officially" ours starts this next Wednesday, but we did a shake down trip about a month ago, at our favorite weekend getaway park about 30 miles away.

This trip will be semi-local, for five days. We just need to scratch our hitch-itch and recharge our batteries. Looking forward to a nice, quiet, restful long weekend.

This winter took a huge toll on both of us. SO glad this one is behind us. I know those of you up North had it much worse, but for us here in the South it was brutally cold and *long*.

Our first trip of the season is always close to home, usually at Boyd Lake SP (Colorado Parks & Wildlife - Boyd Lake) so that we can de-winterize, do any spring maintenance or repairs that are needed and use the dump station to dispose of the RV anti-freeze. We normally take a grandkid or two along and they love being able to get outdoors, ride bikes, fish, or play on the playgrounds.

This year, we (just the 2 of us) plan to go in mid-April instead of our normal mid-May 1st trip just to get some experience in towing and setting up the new 5ver. So far all we've done is tow it from storage to the house and back to storage with a few stops in local parking lots to get some backing experience.

The combination of a new 5ver along with a new TV means learning how to manuever with the different set-up...we had an F250 with a 26ft TT until this year. We are excited to get out and have some fun!!

Just went on a shake down run last weekend in the new Canyon Cat. Camped dry with no water. Enjoyed just getting out in it.

Our first trip will be April 3rd to James Island Rv Park, Charleston SC. Finally after two years trying we got reservations for weekend of Cajun Festival. Being from SW, La. this will probable be the closest I will get to Crawfish and Zydego Music this year. Wife and I both ready to hit the road.

Our first planned trip is Memorial Day weekend (since you have to have a reservation then for almost anywhere it seems), but we plan on getting out SOON for some nearby location as soon as the weather permits. I wanted to go this weekend, but the weather people said possible s*$w might happen so we didn't de-winterize, again. If this keeps up I'm filing a formal complain with NOAA

Spring gulch! Haven't been in a few years and figured I would give them
A try. I haven't been to country acres in 15-20 years. How do you like it?

We really like it, staying in the upper section. They are adding on this year, I think 16 sites. Also, like spring gulch .

Lancaster on my "places to camp" list this year. I will be up that way tomorrow in New Holland for a few days of training for work. Hopefully get our new 5th wheel out next weekend for the first time at our local favorite, Trap Pond State Park.

New holland is a nice little town. We shop at yoders and shady maple when there. A lot of campgrounds within 15 mins of there. We've hit just about all of them .
