2109s drawers and shower (not related)

Hello all,
Loving my 2015 2109s camper I got last spring.
Couple of questions for the group. What do most do about the shower? I cant for the life of me take a shower without water getting all over the floor any mods that worked well??
Second is the 3 drawers to the right of the stove, I cant get them to stay closed during travel. The design seems really dumb to me wonder if anyone had a better solution.
Thanks in advance for any advice!

For my Vibe I bought a longer shower curtain and I installed some of these Shop Weiman Products 2-Pack White Splash Guards at Lowes.com but mine have grooves in them to hold the shower curtain.

Hello causual_T. I had the same problem in my 2109 and someone, I think it was in this forum, suggested using child safety catches to keep my drawers from fully deploying while in transit. They work well. I purchased mine at Lowes. Brand is Dreambaby safety catches. Item # 434965. Model # L181. Easy to install.

We have the Flagstaff version and I would suggest adding a plastic liner with weights in the bottom of them for the Shower curtain. Additionally, as others have suggest, add the splash guards.

We also added some cheap kid latches I bought at Walmart to fix the drawers sliding out.

We used some command hooks to hang a few things in the corner of the shower so we don't have to reach out of the shower and get the floor wet. A small basket from Walmart holds travel size soap and shampoo. It hangs off the command hooks since the suction cups that it came with don't stick to the textured wall.

The 2 left over command hooks are on the cabinet by the door to hang trailer and truck keys.

We have a 2109S. I installed the guards as others have suggested. Also I keep that corner of the trailer just a tad low when leveling. Other than that all you can do is be careful and do the military shower thing.

We also bought a longer shower curtain and put weights in the bottom. Problem solved.

I had the same problem with those drawers. Dealer attempted repair by installing another set of aftermarket drawer catches; but it was a hack job at best. I eventually took all the catches and slides off; filled the holes and just re-installed the drawers. Generally speaking, the cabinets in most RV's are knocked together quickly with few, if any square corners. The drawer slides need to be installed to accommodate these imperfections. Install the front of the slides on the front cabinet cross rail and about a 1/16" out from flush with the front of the cabinet. Adjust the rear of the slides up or down to make the drawer front as close to parallel with the front of the cabinet as you can get it. The latches will then work.

..or hire a real finish carpenter or cabinet maker to fix them for you. Under no circumstances have a regular RV dealer do this kind of detail work! ;-)

Tried to have it fixed by a local dealership under warranty but it really was not any better.

That was my experience exactly. If you can find a cabinet shop willing to send someone out who knows what they are doing, it will take them less than an hour to fix it right. In my experience, RV mechanics are not cabinet makers by any stretch.

I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. Have a 21FBRS & have never had issue with drawers.

We had one of more drawers come open a couple of times, so we tied the knobs together with heavy-duty twist ties. This solution has worked for us, but maybe our drawers were not as loose as yours seem to be.

I have had the bottom drawer closest to the door fixed 3 times. The dealer still has not managed to fix it. May look for a cabinet shop to fix this as well. It will still be cheaper than trying to drive there and back around their service hours

2109s drawers and shower (not related)

Danking29, Thank you. As a Master Carpenter for many, many, years, I appreciate the fact that someone would still recognize the fact of quality people for quality fixes.

Well, it finally happened. When I got to our campsite for Memorial weekend the drawer had slammed open bending the tracks and leaving the top drawer hanging. I had even contacted Forest River directly to see if they had any fixes for the problem and I was quickly blown off. Thankfully I paid the $100.00 for the extra year warranty. Now Forest River can pay to replace my drawer and tracks. Hopefully the new equipment will not allow for a repeat of this problem.

i actually have a carpenter coming to fix this same issue on Friday. I have the extended warrenty as well, but i have asked for it fixed 3 times and the dealer has not managed to fix yet.

I figure that it takes me 45-Hour to get to the Dealer, then drive back. Then I have to go pick it up and drive home. I have 4 hours invested and that's not counting gas or wear and tear on the truck

I would spend 100 and get it fixed right then continue to waste my time

Replace the existing drawer slides with the kind they used to use that lock. You lift them up slightly to open. Never have to worry about them opening again while traveling down the road.

On my 2012 2109S, I used small pieces of Velcro on the shower curtain and wall. One piece at the shower bottom and one piece 18 inches higher on both walls. Then shower as you want. The curtain stays along both walls as long as you don't use a short curtain. Nothing beats simple and cheap. Cabinet doors use child proof locks
