24 volt battery?
Hi, I recently purchased an apex nano 208bhs- a 12 volt system.
I don’t intend to keep the battery the dealer gave us as we want to switch to lithium. However, we noticed that it is a 24 volt marine battery.
Will using this 24 volt battery on our 12 volt system (until our lithium is purchased) damage it? Is it the same as using 2 - 12 volt batteries in parallel?
Thanks

Reminds me of back in the day when a friend tried a 12V battery in a 6V car. Blew all of the light bulbs fast.......................

Are you sure it isn't a group 24 battery? (refers to size)
Can you post a photo of the battery?
Have you checked the voltage at the battery posts with a multimeter?

Sumpin I ain't seen before is a 24v battery. Sounds more like a group 24 to me. Better put a meter to it and se for sure what you have.

If it IS a 24v battery (which I agree with the above that it likely isn't), you need a 24v to 12v converter to feed the RV system. And likely need a different charger in order to charge it.

Oh that makes so much more sense. Thank you! I checked and the battery only has one label. 24 V. CCA 550. 140 RC. And is an Interstate brand.
Too dark here for pics. But the dealer showed us the lights and the slide using this battery and it didn’t blow any bulbs so I’m guessing it is what you guys are saying.

I'm betting that if you read the lettering in the battery, it'll say GROUP 24, not 24 volt.
Not aware of Interstate making a 24v battery, but I could be wrong.

It is unlikely it is a 24V battery. You should have a small volt meter for testing anyway, so now is a good time to get one. If you have a Harbor Freight near you they usually have one for Free or almost free.

If your sticker is comparable to this one (with the same specs you posted) it is a 12v battery.
As someone who possibly questions whether they have a 24v battery in a R/V, I suggest you go to the Library section of the forum and read up on the many different systems in an R/V. It will help you better understand the various components in your R/V

24 volt battery would have 12 cells, not 6. If its not sealed, remove the fill caps and count the holes where you add water.
