My bro-in-law has a '11 2500 and has more payload then my '16 2500 did. I think it's over 3000#, if memory serves

This is why a lot of us use the payload number as a suggestion . After researching how the CC is calculated, it seems pretty arbitrary and doesn't make a lot of sense.

When I was shopping for trucks that is why I went with the 3500. The payload on the 2500 I was looking at was 2285, the 3500 was 3841, it was a no brainer

Folks, this member is not shopping for a new truck but is asking about towing a new trailer with a current truck.

I saw a man in Lincoln NB at a Cracker Barrel that was pulling the biggest fifth wheel that Blue Ridge makes with a F-150. He had been doing it awhile, it was not his first camper and was happy, said that Ford F-150 pulled the camper great, I wish I had took a picture. Camper and truck was level. He was happy and I was happy for him. I rode by his Dad's rig and he was a lot better, he had a late model Ford 2500 pulling a tri-axle camper.

We have a 2016 HD gas and we get 9-10 (computer) Pulling a 9300 lb 5er.
Better mpg than when we were pulling a 7000 trailer.

That's a new one for me having owned a couple or 4..........bulletproof, old school, and there is a multitude of reasons why it's still GM's HD gas motor. I have yet to put $700 into one let alone $7K. I could probably buy 3 of them for 7K lol.

I think he was mistakenly referring to Ford's 6.0 diesel.

Thanks for the info how quick we can get off topic but it's all good info.
pd2436
We hauled the Windjammer to Charleston SC via I81 and avg. 8.3MPG around trip. 9.5 mpg hauling to Providence Town Cape Cod....difference is the Cape is flat.
We try to travel about 5mph below the speed limit on interstates except in Maine north of Bangor where it's posted at 75mph . Enjoy your new TT

I'm curious... With 4:10 gears, what are your rpm's in 6th gear @ 75 mph?
Thanks

RubyDually: I would be curious too...sorry for the misunderstanding...I try to keep my max speed but 60-65mph so in the 75mph limit my max speed is still 60-65mpg. Maybe someday when I own a Duramax I can haul at 75

If I can remember it was about 3200 rpm. With the 4:10. Mine was a 2005, transmissions have come a long way since then

Nothing wrong with Chevy 6.0
Ok I'll answer the question, Yes.
Interesting that a Dodge fan would bash a Chevy? My neighbor just got his Dodge diesel back from putting a head gasket on his. And my 2009 gasser is still running with no problems.
If I changed anything keeping the 6.0 I would get the 4:10 gears, made a mistake and put 1 size over tires on before I got the 5er. It stepped my gearing up a little. Recently put the stock size Michelin's on it and made a big difference in the pulling performance. Seems to pull much easier.
