2nd ac unit in bedroom

We're purchasing a new Silverback 33IK and I was wondering if the 2nd A/C unit in the bedroom is worth it as we will likely be spending a couple of months in the winter in Florid or Arizona and spending some time in SW Ontario during hot summer months.

Would the Create A Breeze fan in the bedroom suffice?

We stay in the Casa Grande area during the winter. March is the only time we have used a/c. And then only in the afternoon. Nights in the desert cool quickly so shouldn't need in the bedroom.

The probelm is when you really need two AC's a fan just won't cut it.. if your prewired for a AC in the bedroom I would say do it. If your not prewired then I would do a fantastic fan....

I would op for the second A/C you never know when you might need it, more then likely down the line at sometime you will be kicking yourself for not doing it. The biggest complaint ever with RV'S is that the A/C's are undersized. It would probably help increase the value and saleability down the road if you ever do it...

We went with the 2nd AC after we roasted while at the beach the 1st year. Wouldn't hesitate to do it again

I have gone both routes and believe me I would never go with a single unit again. One time in a hot summer day and you would be regretting your decision not to get the second unit.

It's worth the money to get the 2 a/c installed

You'll never regret having it. You will regret not having it if you travel south of Tenn, ga, mo, etc.

As the others have said, go for the 2nd air. If nothing else it will make it easier to sell when you buy a new fifth wheel.

I agree with the others in that you won't regret having it but you may regret not having it at some point. It also serves as a backup. Our last trip the main unit kept tripping the breaker so we just used the second unit and point a fan out of the bedroom.

Ordered our 2016 33IK from the RV show in Cleveland Ohio in January. They included several packages and options as show special. Came with the bedroom A/C unit. We would have gotten it anyway, as we spend a lot of time in OBX. It's not just a matter of cooling off the unit, it's how fast can it do it. You might not need it at night (we prefer open windows), but in the heat of the day it's great! I think it would cost more if you did it later.

Hi we're in Southern Ontario with a Silverback 29re. We found the main 15,000 BTU unit could not cool the entire trailer and had the bedroom AC 13,000 BTU installed. You have the ceiling ducts access that can be opened or not. We wanted the bedroom air to only cool the bedroom. Also we got it with its own controls and thermostat. Not connected on the main thermostat. We usually only get a 30amp feed and can't run both AC units at the same time. This way we can shut the main AC unit off and put on the bedroom air and it can cool the bedroom on the hottest days. It's a problem though if someone is sleeping on the living room sofa !

Definitely yes on the 2nd a/c. Better to have and not need as to needing and not having. It can still get warm in Arizona in the winter. Also thinking down the road if you want trade and you don't have the 2nd a/c you'll really get dinged on the trade.

We have several friends who bought 5th wheels that were pre-wired for the 2nd ac but they didn't get them. They all have regretted that decision at some point or another.
We just bought a new 5th wheel that was prewired from the factory for a 2nd ac.
I didn't hesitate and just bit the bullet and got the 2nd air installed before we picked up our unit from the dealer. We got a low profile Dometic Penguin ll installed for $750.

I must be the odd one here. Wired for a 2nd but never felt the need for it. Now you have me thinking about it for those occasions everybody mentioned.

First summer, first outing it took 10 hours to cool down to 75 from 95. That is the Delta T of most AC units. I wish we had a Bedroom AC at times. In Goshen last summer we were OK, not cool but manages. Nashville in the heat of summer may change our minds this summer. We have a Dark Brown exterior and 15 k BTU unit.
