Listen to this. I am a LIVING KIDNEY DONOR. I gave my best girlfriend my left Kidney just over 9 years ago. AND all that time I was smoking. Smoked before and after. In fact I woke up in recovery at about 2 PM and at midnight I was on my feet and hunted up Kim's husband and we both went outside to smoke!

Have never smoked but lost a wonderful father and father-in-law to the habit and cancer. Congratulations to all who have quit. It is a horrible death if you don't. As an RN, I have seen it all. So happy for all of you! Glad for the savings in cash that you are realizing also!!! grin*

Nine years ago it was okay to smoke inside our hospital. Now you can't smoke anywhere on property. There are other reasons they want him to quit, but if push came to shove, they shouldn't withhold the transplant if he is still smoking. Believe me, him being a smoker is by far the LEAST of his worries. Glad to hear you were such a stand up guy to give someone a kidney! My sister is actually going to give her kidney to her son. I urge everyone to sign the paperwork necessary to become an organ donor...after all, you won't need them when you pass, but there IS someone out there who could use a helping hand. Thanks!

Congratulations, Brother!!! Quitting smoking is probably the BEST thing that you can do to ensure your prolonging your life! Your family must be very happy that you've quit. For both yourself and for them!

Congratulations on your accomplishment! I am 13 years 2 mos free and clear myself. Don't miss it, or the cost, one bit.
Tried to quit my coffee habit once too, man was that an ugly time in my life. I finally decided I get to have one bad habit addiction 😄

Your mouth can absorb a significant amount of nicotine.
You're still hooked.

that is so very true
when I had a few months off everyTHING
I should have never puffed
that first cigar
just like the sober alcoholic
just one drink
and he may return to his sin
note
drinking I think would only be a sin
for the drunkard that
drinking was no longer a privilege
it had become a nessessity

Congrats to all who have quit but don't let your guard down. I started smoking down by the river when 12 years old cause we all did it to prove we were grown up. Smoked heavier and heavier for 15 years till my son was born in 1975. Quit 8 days later on groundhog day cause I guess I finally had a really good reason to try to hang around this old world for a while longer. He will be 37 at the end of this month and I still find myself thinking how good it would be to have a smoke when I am under stress but so far so good. If I can do it so can you. Best of luck to y'all. Old Guys
