OP here

Ok, I see lots of questions from folks, and I’ll answer those first. But first, thank you for all the great replies!

No, my TT did not come with a cord to plug in at the campground, it is used, not new

My trailer has this NEMA 5L-30 plug

The cord I got on Amazon looks like this, and I see they call it an extension cord. I didn’t know this was different from the plug in cord, and I’m still not sure why there is a difference between a cord and an extension cord. They are ALL extension cords to me. If you didn’t need to extend to the power, you wouldn’t need a #&@g cord!

All I am trying to do is plug into “shore power” when I go camping

Finally to answer some of my own questions:

At home, I have this plug to attach an orange extension cord to that I then plug into the house 3rd picture

Thanks to @cmysstaillights I will be ordering this shore power cord. Last picture

Yw n e time. Make sure you use a extension cord that is rated for 20amp. Once the length is longer than 50' the usable amperage is lowered. Get a good heavy gauge. You wont be able to use roof air but u can run the fridge and charge the batteries before your trip. No question is stupid, we all have to learn sometime and somehow.

You wrote "I didn’t know this was different from the plug in cord, and I’m still not sure why there is a difference between a cord and an extension cord." Generally, an extension cord will plug into itself... but a 'plug in' (twist on) primary cord will not - its two ends are different from each other.

The short plug is the one I was talking about. If I were you I would keep the first extension cord that you bought and get the cord in the bottom picture. That is the one that you will use at most campgrounds. There will come a time that you will need both heavy cords to reach a pedestal or to locate a generator farther from your camper. Jay

Jay has it right. Get the cord in the bottom pic (25 ft), keep the extension cord that you bought, and then get a "conventional" 30 to 15 amp adapter (not the adapter that you have pictured). You can then plug in at home or at a campsite.

It sounds like you have the cord situation figured out, but I'm more curious about this:

I think this is the first time I've ever heard of a trailer (new or used) that was purchased without a power cord.

Did the previous owner say what happened to it? How were you able to check that everything was working properly when you bought it?
